What is BTech Carpet and Textile Technology?

BTech in Carpet and Textile Technology is a 4-year undergraduate engineering course that provides knowledge in the science and technology behind producing carpets, textiles, and related materials. The course covers core engineering principles with specialized knowledge about fibers, dyes, textile machinery, carpet design, and manufacturing processes. The course is designed to create skilled professionals who understand both the technical and creative sides of textile and carpet production.

The course provides students with the necessary skills to operate and maintain textile machinery, learn about various yarn and fibre types, dye and finish fabrics, and weave or tuft carpets. Also, candidates study environmental practices in the textile industry, textile chemistry, and polymer science. They are also taught how to make complex textures and patterns in fabrics and carpets using computer-aided design.

After completing the course, one can pursue a career in textile mills, carpet manufacturing companies, fashion houses, quality control labs, or even start their own businesses. Career roles include production manager, quality analyst, textile designer, or R&D engineer. It's a niche field, but very important in countries with strong textile industries, like India.

BTech Carpet & Textile Technology Admission Process 2025

The BTech Carpet & Textile Technology admissions process is essentially the same for all of these institutions, which grant admission based on entrance exam scores. The following describes the admissions procedure for IIT Delhi for the BTech Carpet & Textile Technology program.

Step 1: Fill the information on the NTA website to register for the JEE Main exam. Then show up for the test at the appointed time and date.

Step 2: Await the release of the JEE Mains results, and then determine your eligibility. Register for the JEE Advanced exam on the NTA website in the same manner as for JEE Main if you are eligible.

Step 3: Show up for the JEE Advanced exam at the appointed time and date. Await the results, and determine if you are qualified after they are released. Every year, the cut-off may change, so it's best to check the NTA website.

Step 4: You must register for the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling and show up on the designated date after passing the JEE Advanced exam. The students will receive a list of colleges and their branches during the counselling session. This selection list is given depending on the rank earned in the JEE Advanced exam.

Step 5: Decide which branch of IIT you want to enrol in.

Step 6: A merit list of the chosen shortlisted students will be made public by IIT Palakkad. This is dependent on how many students applied for a given course and how many seats are available in that branch. Priority is given to candidates with higher ranks.

Step 7: You will need to come to the college campus for document verification after being selected for further consideration.

Step 8: You will be admitted following the verification of the documents. To reserve your spot in the course, you will then need to pay the admission fee.

Step 9: You can begin your new academic journey when the new session starts after the college verifies your payment status and issues a final admission letter.
