GNM is a 3.5-year diploma course that trains candidates in providing comprehensive nursing care to people, families, and communities. The curriculum incorporates both theoretical learning and practical clinical experience that helps the candidates in opting for careers as healthcare professionals in hospitals or other settings.

 

The candidates who have an interest in working in critical and primary healthcare settings, GNM is the preferred option. The candidates who have completed their 12th standard from a recognized board are eligible to apply for the GNM course in UP. The colleges that offer the GNM course in Uttar Pradesh are Awadh Institute of Medical Technology and Hospital, ANA Group of Institutions, Vivekananda Nursing Institute, and Amogha Institute of Professional and Technical Education.

 

If the candidates want to enroll in the GNM course in any colleges of UP, they need to appear for the entrance exam, UPGET, which will be conducted by the Uttar Pradesh State Medical Faculty (UPSMF) for the nursing institutes of Uttar Pradesh. The GNM course will help the candidates in opting for careers in both government hospitals and private nursing homes, as well as the possibility of further education.

GNM UP Eligibility Criteria

To enroll in the GNM colleges in Uttar Pradesh, the candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria of the colleges they want to apply to. The eligibility criteria for most of the colleges are the same, however, some eligibility requirements can vary based on various factors. The detailed eligibility criteria are given below:

  • To enroll in the course, the candidates are required to be in the age group of 17 to 35 years. There is no age bar for ANM/LHV.
  • The candidates are required to complete their 12th standard in the Science stream, having Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects, along with English.
  • If the candidates have completed their 12th standard in Arts with Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, and Philosophy as core subjects, along with English, then they are eligible to apply for the course.
  • The candidates need to complete their 12th standard from a recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board.
  • The minimum score that the candidates need to score 40% to 50% in their 12th standard.
  • The candidates need to register as ANMs with the State Nursing Registration Council.
  • In addition to this, candidates who have completed their 12th standard in Arts or Science, or Health Care Science Vocational stream from NIOS, are also eligible to apply.

 

GNM UP Entrance Exams

The candidates need to appear and qualify for the entrance exams to enroll in the GNM admission in UP. There is only one entrance exam, which is conducted in Uttar Pradesh for the admissions in GNM course. The complete details of the entrance exam are given below:

GNM UP Admission Process

The candidates need to follow a simple admission process to enroll in the GNM course at any college. For further help, the admission process of the GNM course at SRNH GNMTC, Prayagraj, is as follows:

 

Application Process

To take GNM admission in UP, the candidates need to appear for the UPGET entrance exam. Numerous colleges and universities accept applications based on the score of the UPGET entrance exam. The admission process to

 

Step 1: To start the admission process for the GNM course in UP, the candidates are required to visit the http://www.abvmuup.edu.in/ website.

 

Step 2: After visiting the website, the candidates are required to head to the entrance exam page.

 

Step 3: The candidates are required to enter the details, including personal details, educational qualifications, marks, etc.

 

Step 4: Now, the candidates need to submit the registration form and verify the details by entering the OTP sent to the mobile number and email ID.

 

Step 5: Upon successfully registering, the candidates need to start the application process.

 

Step 6: The candidates need to fill in the personal details in the application form, including the address, qualification details, etc.

 

Step 7: The candidates need to upload the required documents, including the photograph and signature.

Admission Process

Upon successfully registering for the UPGET exam, the candidates need to appear for the exam and wait for the result. After the results are declared, the candidates need to move forward with the admission process:

GNM programs offered by the government and affiliated private nursing schools across the state are considered through the UP GNM Entrance Test (UPGET), a state-level entrance test offered by the university.

What is the duration of the GNM course, and how is it different from the BSc Nursing course?
