M.E. Chemical Engineering Admission Process 2025

The entry into M.E. in Chemical Engineering in the best institutes, such as IIT Kharagpur, is mainly through GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering), and then there is a centralised COAP counselling. Aspirants can follow the below mentioned steps below to apply for the Master’s program in Chemical Engineering

 

1. GATE Registration & Exam: GATE Registration: Candidates need to fill in the form to enroll themselves in the GATE 2025 examination (generally in February). A valid GATE scores in Chemical Engineering or any related discipline is compulsory.

 

2. COAP Registration: Eligible candidates should enroll themselves on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) through which the IIT offers are co-ordinated.

 

3. Application to IIT Kharagpur: Parallel to this, the candidates must apply directly on the IIT Kharagpur admissions portal by completing their M.Tech application form and choosing their specialization which they want to pursue (e.g., Chemical Engineering).

 

4. Short lists & offer rounds: Candidates are short-listed based on GATE score. In most cases, IIT Kharagpur does not do the GD/PI selection process to take M.Tech students.

 

5. To accept, revoke or wait on offers during each round, candidates must use COAP.

 

6. Final Admission and Fee Payment: After an offer is accepted, the candidate has to pay the admission fee and also verify their documents.
