• Should have secured at least 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale for admission in IITs. Other private institutions may consider a minimum of 50% marks.
• A 5% relaxation is offered to SC/ST/PwD category students, which would be 55% marks or 5.5 CGPA.
• Should have a valid GATE score.
• The candidates who have completed B.Tech from IITs or Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) with 8 CGPA and are applying for M.Tech admission in IITs, then they will be exempted from qualifying GATE. If shortlisted, they will be interviewed through videoconferencing.

The admission into the M.Tech in Biotechnology is based on entrance examination, like GATE or through institute-conducted exams.
