IIT Indore has become one of the best-performing new IITs in India and has always been among the top in the national and international frames. Nationally, it has been very strong in NIRF rankings, reaching as high as 10th and 14th -16th in the last several years. It has also been noted in its research performance and management programs with NIRF research ranking always being in the top 30, and management ranking in the top 10. IIT Indore has had a lot of strides in the international scene. It has been ranked 556th in the QS world university ranking 2026 and has been ranked in 501-600 groups by Times higher education (THE) world university ranking 2025.

IIT Indore Ranking by NIRF
Over recent academic years, IIT Indore has maintained a strong presence in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for its B.E./B.Tech category. In the year 2022, the college held the #16 spot according to the NIRF-2022 rankings for B.E./B.Tech programs. The subsequent year, 2023, saw an improvement, with the college rising to #14 in the NIRF ranking 2023 listing for the same category. However, in the 2024 NIRF rankings, the ranking adjusted slightly, with the college returning to #16 as per the NIRF ranking 2024 results for B.E./B.Tech. As per the latest NIRF ranking for 2025, the IIT Indore ranked #12 in engineering domain.

IIT Indore Ranking by IIRF
Between 2022-2025, IIT Indore has ranked consistently with good performance at the state and national level in the category of Engineering. In 2022, It was ranked 17th in the whole country among all the participating engineering institutes and 2nd in state. IIT Indore has advanced its position nationally in 2023 and 2024 (11th) as well as the state (1st ). Over these four years, it lost a notch to 13th position nationally, but it retained its 1st position in the state and this made it the best engineering institution in Madhya Pradesh in 2025.

IIT Indore ranking has progressively been getting credit in international ratings in the last few years. Its global academic reputation is increasing and it was ranked 556 in the QS World University Rankings 2026. IIT Indore was ranked in the 501- 600 band by Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025, which is similar to its performance on the list in prior years.
