NIT Silchar offers a diverse range of scholarships for students enrolled in various programs facilitated by the institute. These scholarships aim to provide financial assistance to meritorious students as well as those in need. Apart from the scholarships provided by the institute, students can also benefit from the national-level scholarship offered by MHRD based on merit cum means. The eligibility requirements of the NIT Silchar scholarship is based on academic merit.

NIT Silchar Scholarship: Swami Dayanand Education Foundation Scholarship

The Swami Dayanand Education Foundation Scholarship is designed for students with an annual family income of less than INR 6,00,000. 30% of these scholarships are earmarked for female candidates. The scholarships vary according to the caste category of the student.

 

NIT Silchar Scholarship: Research Fellowships

NIT Silchar offers Research Fellowships to students pursuing postgraduate programs in research or Ph.D. degrees. These fellowships are sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The senior research fellow is awarded INR 28,000 and the junior research fellow receives INR 25,000 under this scheme.

 

NIT Silchar Scholarship: Scholarship for ST Students

This scholarship is provided by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs of the Government of India to assist needy and meritorious students of ST categories. A grant of INR 45,000 is given for the purchase of laptops, computers, books, or any other academic accessories.

 

NIT Silchar Scholarship: Other Scholarships

NIT Silchar provides a wide range of scholarships to the various categories of students such as those with disabilities, SC/ST, meritorious students and North Eastern Region (NER). Some of the major scholarships are the Bharti Infratel Scholarship specifically in the case of students with disabilities pursuing studies in the Institutes of National Importance within the northeast of India and the SC scholarships provided by the Government of Maharashtra.
