NIT Rourkela provides a plethora of financial assistance options and scholarship schemes for its deserving and needy students. Nonetheless, students pursuing M.Tech or Ph.D. degrees are exempted from this as their programs are sponsored or externally funded. Fellowships and assistantships are also granted to students engaged in Post Doctoral degrees, M.Tech Research, and Ph.D. The fellowship/assistantship details, program-specific academic qualifications, and rates are outlined below. Various private scholarships, funded and managed by different companies, are also available to the institute's undergraduate students.

Does NIT Rourkela provide scholarships?

Yes, NIT Rourkela offers several scholarships and financial assistance schemes to meritorious and economically weaker students. These include institute merit scholarships, state and central government scholarships (such as NSP), and category-based fee waivers for SC/ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD students.

What is the stipend for NIT Rourkela?

NIT Rourkela provides stipends to postgraduate and research students. M.Tech students with valid GATE scores receive INR 12,400 per month, while Ph.D. scholars are awarded INR 31,000–35,000 per month depending on the year of study. Additionally, Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) recipients can earn up to INR 80,000 monthly with research grants.
