National Law University Scholarships Overview

Scholarships at NLUO are designed to reduce the financial burden of legal education and ensure that talented students from all backgrounds can participate fully. Awards typically range from partial tuition fee waivers to defined annual stipends, especially for undergraduates. The main categories include:

  • Merit-based waivers for outstanding performance in board exams, CLAT scores, or university entrance tests.

  • Need and EWS-based support where family income falls below prescribed thresholds.

  • Category-based scholarships for Odia domicile, single girl child, sports achievers, children of defense/paramilitary personnel, alumni families, and minorities.

National Law University Eligibility

Eligibility for NLUO scholarships is based on both merit and need, with clear benchmarks guiding selections. Typically, a minimum academic score in CLAT or board exams is required for merit-based awards, while annual family income below INR 5 lakh or INR 8 lakh qualifies for need-based support. Renewal often depends on maintaining a CGPA above the university’s minimum (commonly GPA 5 or higher) and adherence to attendance or discipline norms. Special categories may require documentation such as proof of local domicile, sports certificates at the district/state/national level, or verification of parental service status.

National Law University Required Documents

Applicants must furnish proof to validate their eligibility. Document requirements are designed to be clear and manageable, usually including:

  • CLAT scorecard and/or previous academic transcripts

  • Income certificate (issued by authorized government officer)

  • Domicile certificate (for region-specific or minority scholarships)

  • ID proof (Aadhaar, PAN, or equivalent)

  • Relevant certificates for sports, defense service, or single girl child category

National Law University Application Process

Applications for scholarships are typically invited at the start of the academic year or during notified windows. Students can apply through the university portal or submit forms at the administrative office. It is crucial to adhere to the announced deadlines and ensure that all documents are complete and correct, as incomplete submissions may lead to disqualification. In addition, NLUO announces further opportunities from external agencies, and students are encouraged to monitor university notifications for updates.

All scholarships are subject to annual renewal based on parameters such as GPA 5 or higher, minimum 75% attendance, and proper student conduct. Scholarships generally cannot be combined for overlapping categories, except when specified by external or government sponsors.
