About Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Punjab

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala is among India’s premier national law universities. It has a ranking of 24 by NIRF among law universities in India. RGNUL is recognised by the UGC and approved by the Bar Council of India. It holds NAAC 'A' grade accreditation and operates under the Punjab State Legislature. Admissions to the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) is based on Class 12 with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST), along with a valid CLAT score. The LL.M. course is for law graduates with 55% or more (50% for SC/ST), selected via CLAT PG rankings. The Ph.D. programmes in Law and allied disciplines require a postgraduate degree and performance in the university’s entrance exam. The annual intake includes 180 seats for B.A. LL.B. and 40 seats for LL.M.

 

RGNUL offers some of the most competitive placement packages. Law firms, litigation chambers, and corporate legal departments recruit from the campus. The roles offered to students are in advisory, compliance, research and litigation. The median CTC for graduates stands at INR 9 LPA. The recruitment process which includes pre-placement talks, shortlisting rounds and final interviews is managed by Placement and Internship Cell.

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Admission 2025

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala admits students to its BA LLB and LLM programs through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The candidates must meet the minimum eligibility criteria at the time of counselling. RGNUL also offers PhD admissions through an entrance test. The entrance test is conducted by the university only.

  • Candidates applying for the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme must have completed 10+2 with at least 45% marks and SC/ST students require a minimum of 40%. A valid CLAT score is also required.
  • Admission to the one-year LL.M. programme requires an LL.B. or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% marks, or 50% for candidates from SC/ST categories. The final selection on the basis of CLAT PG.
