Asian College of Journalism is known for its cutting-edge teaching strategies used at the world's top journalism schools, tailoring them to Asian contexts and adding some new ideas. In order to promote journalism as an ethical, investigative, independent, and socially conscious profession, the Media Development Foundation was founded in 1999 as a non-profit public trust. To achieve this, the ACJ program aims to integrate how to do certain things perfectly in journalism and include the -˜why' point of view along with it, allowing young journalists to meet the needs of a changing society and the diversity in the workplace.
One of the courses, which is a joint effort between the Asian College of Journalism and Bloomberg, the largest news organization in the world, requires no prior knowledge of mathematics or economics and attempts to introduce students from the humanities and sciences to the fascinating field of business journalism. Every lesson starts with the fundamentals of the subject and swiftly builds up to give students the authoritative knowledge they need to write confidently about anything from financial misconduct and stock markets to intellectual property and the black market.
