National Law University Orissa Admission 2025: Courses, Fees & Application Process

National Law University Odisha is the institution to study undergraduate and postgraduate law courses with its admissions being based mainly on the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). In the case of 5-year combined BA LL.B. (Hons.) and BBA LL.B. (Hons.) the qualification required is a 10 +2 with 60 percent marks (relaxation in reserved category) and a valid CLAT UG score. The three-year LL.B. program has admission requirement of bachelor degree under 45% marks and the LL.M. program of graduates who have passed CLAT PG.

Besides courses based on CLAT, NLUO has a three year Bachelor of law BA (Law) degree, Certificate Courses in Cyber Law / Cyber Security and Ph.D in Law. Ph.D. candidates also require a Master of law with 55% (50% by SC/ST/OBC/PWD) and pass through a university specific admission procedure. Although the date of CLAT 2026 will be on December 7, 2025, the application process will commence on August 1, 2025 and all CLAT based admissions will be on merit, as per the guidelines of the Consortium.

National Law University Odisha UG Courses and Fees 2025

NLU Orissa offers top-tier undergraduate law programs like BA LLB (Hons.), BBA LLB (Hons.), BA in Law, and LLB. Admission to integrated programs is through CLAT and the 3-year LLB requires a qualifying degree with minimum marks. The course fees range from INR 3.6 lakh to INR 6.51 lakh, depending on the program selected.

• NLU Odisha BA LLB and BBA LLB seat intake: A total of 180 seats are offered across both integrated programs.
• BA (Law) intake: The university offers 50 seats for the 3-year BA in Law course.
• LLB seat intake: The 3-year LLB program admits 40 students based on NAIET merit.

National Law University Odisha PG Courses and Fees 2025

National Law University Odisha offers a one-year LLM program with specializations in Constitutional & Administrative Law and Corporate & Commercial Law. The admission is based on a valid CLAT PG score, and applicants must hold a 5-year integrated BA LLB (Hons.) or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks. The total program fee is INR 1,66,890.

• NLU Odisha LLM seat intake: A total of 50 seats are offered across both specializations.

National Law University Odisha PhD 2025

NLU Orissa offers three-year PhD programme in Law and Interdisciplinary Studies. The candidates with a postgraduate degree in Law can apply online through the university portal. Selection is based on an entrance exam, followed by synopsis submission and an oral presentation.

• Eligibility for NLUO PhD 2025: Master’s in Law with minimum 55% marks (50% for reserved categories).
• The PhD fees at NLU Odisha is INR 2,19,000 for the entire duration.
• PhD seat intake at NLU Odisha is 25.

National Law University Odisha Application Process 2025

NLU Orissa offers admissions to its BA LLB, BBA LLB, LLM, LLB, BA (Law), Certificate, and PhD programs through both CLAT and university-level processes. The interested candidates must apply online through the CLAT Consortium for BA LLB / BBA LLB and LLM courses and other programs require direct application through the NLUO website.

How to Apply to NLUO ?

For BA LLB / BBA LLB (Hons) & LLM:

• Visit the official CLAT Consortium website
• Register using your email ID and mobile number.
• Fill out the CLAT application form with personal and academic details.
• Upload required documents in the specified format.
• Pay the CLAT registration fee of INR 4000 for General / OBC / PwD / NRI and INR 3500 for SC / ST / BPL.
• Submit the form and download the confirmation page.

For LLB, BA (Law) & Certificate Courses:

• Go to the official NLU Odisha website
• Download or access the application form online, as per course instructions.
• Fill in all details accurately.
• Upload documents and recent passport-size photograph.
• Pay the application fee online of INR 3000 for General and INR 2500 for SC/ST/PwD (LLB). The application fee for BA Law is INR 275 for General and INR 175 for SC/ST candidates.
• Submit the form and download the confirmation slip.

For PhD:

• Download the PhD application form from the NLU Odisha website
• Fill the form and submit it to the Registrar, NLUO.
• Pay the application fee based on your qualification i.e. INR 5000 (General) and INR 4000 (SC/ST) for Non-NET/JRF/M.Phil candidates. The fee for NET/JRF/M.Phil candidates is INR 2500 (General) and INR 2000 (SC/ST).
• The candidates affiliated with research institutions must apply through their Head of Institution.
