The primary distinction between B Ed and D.Ed courses is in their employment opportunities. Is it possible to pursue a D.Ed course after completing a bachelor degree?

Yes. Although the basic D.Ed eligibility criteria specifies that the candidates must have completed their 10+2 studies from a recognized board with at least 50% score, it must be noted that this is only a basic requirement; all UG and PG degree graduates are also eligible to apply for the same.

Are there any specializations available under the D.Ed course?

Yes, there are few specializations that are available under the D.Ed course, including Special Education, Early ChildhooD.Education and Language Teaching. If a bachelor's degree graduate wishes to enroll for the D.Ed course, which scores would be used to determine his/her eligibility for the same: bachelor's or 10+2?

In this situation, a candidate's bachelor's degree scores would take precedence over his or her 10+2 scores for determining D.Ed eligibility. It should be mentioned that, while the fundamental qualifying criteria for the D.Ed program is a minimum of 50% score in 10+2, if someone with a UG/PG degree applies for the same, the scores of his/her recently completeD.Education will be considered. The merit requirements may remain the same or may change depending on the college's requirements.

Are there any particular subjects that the candidates must have studied in 10+2 or higher to be eligible to apply for the D.Ed course?

No, there is no set subject combination required to pursue the D.Ed course. The course is open to candidates from any background, including science, commerce, and arts. It should be noted, however, that the candidate must meet the minimum merit requirement of a 50% aggregate score in 10+2 to be eligible to apply.

Is the D.Ed course theory intensive?

Yes, the D.Ed course can be described as theoretically intensive, particularly during the initial 2-3 semesters. The final semester at some institutions may include hands-on learning opportunities in the form of training and internships under industry professionals in a formal setting such as a school or an NGO but apart from that, the course is theory based only.
