D.Ed Admission Process 2025: Entrance Exams, Eligibility Criteria in India

Diploma in Education (D.Ed) admission process usually starts with the candidate filling out an application form either online or by visiting the particular college or university. The process of merit-based admission or entry based on entrance examinations made by state bodies is usually followed by verification of documents, counseling and designation to the merit or rank in the exam.

 

To be eligible, the applicants should have done their 10+2 in a recognized board and should have secured a minimum of 50 per cent of marks. Depending on the state, entrance exams may be required such as PTET or RIE CEE. Successful candidates verify their status by depositing the fee within the specified deadline and thereupon the academic process commences according to the schedule of the institution. D.Ed is offered either part time or full time and the students get ready to become teachers in primary and elementary schools.

D.Ed Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria required for taking admission in Diploma in Education program in Indian colleges are stated below for reference:

  • The applicants must have completed 10+2 from any recognized board (CBSE, HBSE, etc.).A minimum of 50% aggregate in Class 12 is mandatory and 45% relaxation is given to the SC/ST/OBC candidates.
  • In some of the colleges they only accept candidates with at least 2 years of teaching experience.
  • The applicants who have completed their undergraduate or postgraduate degrees can also apply.

D.Ed Admission Process 2025

The admission procedure of Diploma in Education (D.Ed) is listed below in a few steps. The admission process is almost the same in all colleges, for reference the admission process at Shri Sai Baba College of Education, Jhajjar is given below:

 

Step 1 – Visit the admission portal or campus office of Shri Sai Baba College of Education. Complete the application form which is available online or in-person along with personal and academic details.

 

Step 2 – Submit Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets, transfer certificate (if applicable), character certificate, and Valid ID and upload the scanned copies online or submit in person.

 

Step 3 – Admissions are merit-based and the college prepares a provisional merit list based on Class 12 aggregate marks and reserved-category norms.

 

Step 4 – The shortlisted candidates attend counselling at the college or university level. Seats are allotted based on merit and seat availability.

Will I get a provisional admission in the D.Ed program even if my 12th results are pending?

There are several institutes that would allow students to take provisional seats on condition of submitting final mark sheets before starting the course, since the students have already taken their 12th board exams and just await results.

Are there any management quota seats and donations in D.Ed programs?

In some cases, some colleges/institutes may allot a certain number of seats under management quota where there are sometimes higher fees or applications may need to be made independently of the general merit seats.

Are there any scholarships or fee waivers available at the time of admission in D.Ed programs?

Yes, there are ample scholarship opportunities (or waiver of fees) in many states and even in colleges, particularly for reserved category, and also economically weaker sections, or meritorious students. These are early one-year stamps which should be applied to in accordance with documents.

How is the waitlist managed after the first round of admission in D.Ed programs?

Candidates in the waitlist will be given admission in case any of the selected candidates back out or fail to make the admission formalities on time. Waitlist positions are rearranged, and applicants are notified in a timely manner.
