Across the 26 NLUs, there are 3705 UG seats and 1436 PG seats, along with additional supernumerary seats for NRIs, foreign nationals, and other categories. The seat distribution varies from one NLU to another, with institutes like NLSIU Bangalore, NALSAR Hyderabad, NLIU Bhopal, WBNUJS Kolkata, NLU Jodhpur, HNLU Raipur, GNLU Gandhinagar, RMLNLU Lucknow, CNLU Patna, NUALS Kochi, NLU Odisha, NUSRL Ranchi, and NLUT Agartala following their own reservation policies.
For example, NLSIU Bangalore reserves 5% of seats for PwD candidates and gives 25% horizontal preference to Karnataka students. Similarly, HNLU Raipur provides 5% seats for Specially Abled Persons and 3% jointly for SAP and dependents of freedom fighters. GNLU Gandhinagar also reserves seats for North-East candidates and offers a sports quota.
Overall, CLAT 2026 seat reservation system is designed to ensure fair opportunities for candidates from different categories and states while also accommodating special groups like PwD, women, and NRIs.
CLAT Total Seats 2026: Category-wise Seat Reservation
CLAT 2026 offers seat reservations for different categories. However, not all NLUs provide OBC-NCL reservations; these are mostly available in state-funded NLUs like RMNLU Lucknow,CNLU Patna, and HNLU Raipur.
