The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University of Law is a public institute in Hyderabad, Telangana, established in 1998 by the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature Act. It is regarded as one of India's most prestigious institutions for legal education, ranked 3rd by the NIRF in both 2023 and 2024 and recognised by the UGC, approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and accredited with an A++ grade by NAAC.

 

NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad offers undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and distance learning programs in the field of law, management and interdisciplinary studies. Admissions to its full-time residential courses are entrance-based and highly competitive. Admissions to the BA LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. programs are based on the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT UG/PG). For the MBA program offered by the Department of Management Studies (DoMS), candidates must appear for NALSAR Management Entrance Test (NMET) or CAT, XAT, GMAT, followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The Integrated BBA + MBA program requires applicants to clear IPMAT (conducted by IIM Indore) or NMET UG. For Ph.D. admissions, the university conducts its own entrance test, followed by an interview and submission of a research proposal.

NALSAR University of Law offers admission to various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs such as BA LL.B (Hons.), LL.M, MBA, BBA+MBA (Integrated), and PhD courses. Admission is based on national-level entrance tests and university-level exams. Candidates are shortlisted according to entrance exam scores, followed by further selection rounds like interviews or group discussions, depending on the course. For law programs (BA LL.Ba & LL.M), admission is through CLAT UG/PG; for MBA, through CAT/XAT/GMAT/NMET (NALSAR Management Entrance Test); for BBA+MBA, through IPMAT or equivalent tests; and for PhD, candidates must qualify the university’s entrance test and interview, along with submission of a research proposal.
