UPES (University of Petroleum and Energy Studies), established in 2003 in Dehradun, is a leading private university with a student strength of over 14,000 and approximately 1,500 faculty. UPES Admission Deadlines

UPES conducts multiple admission cycles annually, with major intakes in July–August and a smaller cycle in January for select programs. The application window for most UG and PG courses typically opens in November and closes by May–June each year. Entrance exams such as UPESEAT, UPESPAT, UPESMET, and ULSAT are generally held between April–June. For 2025, the application fee is INR 1,350 per program. PhD admissions usually have deadlines in June–July and December (Winter session).

 

UPES UG Admission

UPES offers a range of undergraduate programs, including B.Tech, BBA, B.Des, BA, B.Sc, B.Com, and LLB, with a total intake of approximately 3,500–4,000 seats annually. Admissions are based on UPESEAT (B.Tech), ULSAT (Law), UPESDAT (Design), UPESPAT (Pharmacy), as well as national exams like JEE Main, CLAT, LSAT, NID, NIFT, or 12th merit. Indicative cutoffs for B.Tech are around JEE Main 85–92 percentile or UPESEAT 60–70%. The total fee for most UG programs ranges from INR 8–18 Lakh. Scholarships are available for top scorers and meritorious students, with waivers up to 50% for select categories.

 

UPES PG Admission

UPES provides postgraduate programs such as MBA, M.Tech, M.Des, LLM, M.Sc, MA with a combined annual intake of 1,200–1,500 seats. MBA admissions require UPESMET or national exams like CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, with typical cutoffs in the 60–75 percentile range. M.Tech and M.Sc candidates are selected via UPES entrance or GATE/NET. The total fee for PG programs ranges from INR 3–8 Lakh for most courses, and up to INR 15 Lakh for flagship MBAs. Scholarships are available for high scorers and GATE/CAT toppers.

 

UPES PhD Admission

UPES offers PhD programs in engineering, management, law, science, and allied fields, with annual admissions in July and December. The minimum eligibility is a Master’s degree with 55%+ (relaxation for reserved categories). Selection is based on a written test and interview; candidates with NET/JRF/GATE/SLET are exempt from the entrance test. The annual intake is approximately 80–100 seats. Total program fees are typically INR 2–3 Lakh for the minimum duration (3 years), with limited scholarships for GATE/NET qualified candidates.

 

UPES Application Process

UPES applications are conducted online through the official portal, with a standard application fee of INR 1,350 per program (2025). Candidates must register, fill in academic and personal details, upload documents, and pay the fee. Entrance exam-based programs require booking exam slots after application. Shortlisted candidates are called for interviews or counseling, and final admission offers are made on merit or exam performance. Counseling and seat allotment are conducted in June–July for most programs.
