Established in 1985, Hindustan College of Engineering was conferred the status of a university under the name Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS). It is a deemed-to-be University recognised by the UGC, the AICTE, the AIMA, the SAE International, and AIAA. It is a member of AIU and is accredited by the IAO, NBA, and NAAC with an 'A' Grade. At present, the university offers more than 100 courses at UG and PG levels in diverse streams, such as Engineering, Management, Law, Humanities, Science, and more.
Apart from the full-time courses, HITS also offers distance learning programmes through its Centre for Online and Distance Learning (CODL). Admission to all the courses at Hindustan University is based on the university’s in-house entrance exam, i.e., HITSEEE & HITSCAT. Hindustan University conducts HITSEEE for providing admission to BTech courses. HITSCAT is the new entrance test conducted by the institute for admission to BDes, Law, Management and some other courses. No, the University does not provide any technical course in distance mode. All courses are in regular mode. Masters students require practical assistance while undergoing this course, and hence the Supreme Court of India has not given permission to go through distance mode.
