FAQs

What factors contribute to the variation in BA Economics fees among colleges?

The fee level depends on a lot of factors including the government or privately owned college, location, image, and services it provides. The more renowned institutions are the universities in big cities, which are more expensive. As well, specialist/honors programmes can be more expensive than general BA Economics course.

Is there scholarship or financial assistance we can get to subsidize the BA Economics fee?

Yes, there are numerous colleges as well as government agencies who offer merit and need-based scholarships to BA Economics students. Such financial assistance has the capability of substantial reduction of tuition fee, particularly among students who excel in academics or those that are poor in background. Concessions are also availed to female students or children of defense personnel in some institutions.

Are the fees different in BA Economics depending on the way of study (regular vs. distance learning)?

Yes, it is true that the distance learning courses provided by the open universities such as the IGNOU or the open universites singly have a lot lower fee than the regular on campuses ones. These programs are affordable and flexible but could vary on campus experience and places of placements.

How can the cost of a BA Economics degree relate to the job and wage placement after the study?

Better infrastructure and more robust placement network are usually associated with higher fees but it is the candidate with different skills, specialization, and experience that determine the availability of jobs and the compensation received. Normally a student who completes BA economics works in finance, banking, consulting and policy analysis making average salary of INR 5 to 8 lakh a year. Attending a reputed school may indeed help a person get better job opportunities but it is not the only determinant of a successful career.
