Delhi B Ed Admissions

Bachelor of Education (B Ed) is a two year post graduate course that gives emphasis on education psychology, teaching skills, curriculum design, educational technology, and classroom management. The Delhi B Ed admission is on the basis of a CUET PG (Common University Entrance Test, Post graduate) exam which is conducted online and much merit-based.

 

This will be done online through the Delhi University official web site whereby a candidate has to fill and submit his form online with applicable fees. This entrance examination will have multiple-choice questions based on language skills, reasoning, general awareness and subject knowledge through class 10 and is designed to measure the aptitude of candidates to teach.

 

Delhi B Ed Admissions Eligibility Criteria

 

The eligibility criteria for Delhi B Ed Admissions are mentioned below:

  • A candidate must have a bachelor degree / master degree in science / humanities / social sciences / commerce / etc. with an aggregate of at least 50 percent (45 percent in case of OBC, 40 percent in case of SC / ST / PwD).
  • Graduates in Science/ Mathematics specialization of B.E. /B Tech must fulfill the criteria of an aggregate of 50 per cent marks
  • The prospective teachers should have pursued his/her own subject to be trained in graduation/post- graduation level and must have scored at least 200 in the subject and 50 per cent in the same subject, which is not a part of the main degree
  • Admission age must be at least 18 years and no maximum age is fixed.
  • It requires a valid CUET PG entrance score- there is now no DU specific entrance exam.

Delhi B Ed Entrance Exam

DU B Ed admission is now done through CUET PG , a national-level test taken by the NTA. The test consists of Teaching Aptitude section, Reasoning section, Language Proficiency section and Subject-Specific Knowledge sections and includes 100 MCQs, each having a maximum of 400 marks and negative marking of -1 per incorrect answer

Admission Process for Delhi B Ed

Admission Procedure of Central Institute of Education (CIE), University of Delhi is given below:

 

Step - 1: Enrol to the CUET pg exam through NTA portal online and take B Ed paper.

 

Step - 2: Visit the admission portal of DU at the counselling stage, after the announcement of the results.

 

Step - 3: Personal and CUET score details should be filled, select Central Institute of Education (CIE) or your college of choice.

 

Step - 4: DU merit lists by CUET PG scores and reservations in a specific category (General, OBC, SC/ST, PwD etc.) are to be checked.

 

Step​ - 5: In case you have been shortlisted, attend the online seat allotment, obtain the allotment letter and also report to the CIE campus with all documents.

 

Step - 6: Verify the document and pay the tuition fees (around INR 60,000 - 90,000 total) and start the classes according to the Delhi University schedule of classes.

Will foreign graduates be able to get DU B Ed through CUET PG?

Yes, foreigners with a degree in an Indian-recognized university (including its overseas branches) may apply, to be chosen through merit and so on the basis of seat availability

In case two candidates are at similar CUET PG scores in B ED Delhi, what will happen?

The tie-breakers are used on the basis of postgraduate/ undergraduate marks, age and other criteria as per admission rules of DU.

Does DU grant any reservation or concession to single girl children for the B Ed program?

Yes, DU has implemented a supernumerary seat policy of single girl child in undergraduate courses and in case of B Ed too we have such special quotas being implemented as per the latest DU rules in case the specific is mentioned.

Which are the B Ed subject categories at CIE, Delhi University?

CIE has B Ed streams in Sciences, Social Sciences, Languages (English, Hindi, Sanskrit) and so on. Each category admits 30-100 students per subject in each category depending on the availability of seats.
