Bachelor of Design in Jewellery Design is a 4-year undergraduate course that teaches students how to create beautiful and creative jewellery like rings, necklaces, earrings, and more. In this course, students learn sketching, digital design using software (like CAD), the use of metals and gems, and how to make and present their jewellery ideas. It also covers market trends, customer needs, and how to build a brand. This course is great for students who are creative, love fashion and design, and want to work in the jewellery or luxury design industry.

To apply for this course, students must complete their 12th class from any stream. Some institutes select students based on their 12th marks, while others conduct entrance tests like AIEED or their own exams such as the IICD Entrance Test (by Indian Institute of Crafts and Design, Jaipur). Many colleges also review your design portfolio, and some may take a personal interview to understand your interest and creative thinking. The course fees vary depending on the institute. For example, IICD Jaipur charges between ₹6 to ₹12.5 lakh, JD Institute ₹5 to ₹9 lakh, and colleges like INSD, IIGJ, JECRC, and Arch College of Design have fees ranging from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹8 lakh.

After completing this course, students can work as Jewellery Designers, CAD Designers, Gemologists, Production Managers, or even Jewellery Consultants. Popular recruiters include Tanishq, Kalyan Jewellers, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, CaratLane, and Amrapali Jewels. Freshers usually earn between ₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh per year, and with experience, the salary can go up to ₹8 to ₹12 lakh or more. This course offers strong career options in both national and international markets, with the opportunity to work in big companies, design studios, or start your own jewellery business.
