CEED Exam 2027: Registration, Dates, Eligibility, Pattern & Syllabus

CEED 2027 registration is currently ongoing. IIT Bombay started the online registration process on October 1, 2026. Candidates can submit the form with the regular fee until October 31, 2026. The late-fee window will remain open until November 6, 2026, at 5 PM. CEED 2027 will be conducted on January 17, 2027, from 9 AM to 12 noon. The examination will have Part A and Part B, and candidates must attempt both parts.

The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is conducted by IIT Bombay for admission to postgraduate design and PhD programmes at participating institutes. The exam evaluates visual perception, drawing, logical reasoning, creativity, communication and problem-solving abilities. CEED qualification allows candidates to apply to programmes at institutes including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IISc Bangalore, IIITDM Jabalpur and IIITDM Kancheepuram.

CEED Exam Highlights 2027

Note: CEED 2027 Part A will be conducted from 9 AM to 10 AM. Part B will follow from 10 AM to 12 noon. Both parts are compulsory.

CEED Exam Dates 2027

IIT Bombay has released the complete CEED Exam Dates 2027 schedule. Registration is currently open with the regular fee. Candidates who miss the October 31 deadline can submit the form with the applicable late fee until November 6, 2026, at 5 PM.

Note: IIT Bombay has stated that requests to change the examination date or time will not be considered.

CEED Eligibility Criteria 2027

Candidates must have completed a degree, diploma or postgraduate programme of at least three years after Class 12. Those appearing for the final examination of such a programme by July 2027 can also apply. Candidates who have passed a five-year G.D. Art programme after Class 10 by July 2027 are eligible as well. There is no age limit for appearing in CEED, and candidates can attempt the examination any number of times.

Note: CEED Eligibility 2027 allows candidates to appear for the examination, but participating institutes may prescribe additional requirements for admission.

CEED Registration 2027

CEED registration 2027 is currently open through the online application portal. Candidates must complete the form, enter their academic and personal details, select examination cities, upload the required documents and pay the application fee before submitting the form. IIT Bombay requires candidates to select three examination cities in order of preference.

CEED Application Fee 2027

Note: The CEED registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Service charges and bank processing charges, where applicable, are extra. The late fee applies after the regular registration deadline.

How to Fill CEED Application Form 2027?

1. Visit the official CEED registration portal.
2. Register using the required details.
3. Complete the personal and academic information.
4. Select three examination cities in order of preference.
5. Upload the required photograph and signature.
6. Upload category and other applicable certificates.
7. Pay the application fee online.
8. Review all entered details.
9. Submit the application form.
10. Save the confirmation page and payment details.

Candidates should verify the selected examination cities before submitting the form. IIT Bombay does not accept requests to change the examination city after submission.

CEED Exam Pattern 2027

CEED Exam Pattern 2027 consists of Part A and Part B. Part A is a computer-based examination carrying 150 marks and has a duration of one hour. It contains Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Select Question (MSQ) and Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) questions. Part B carries 100 marks and has a two-hour duration. Its questions assess design, drawing and writing skills, with responses recorded in the answer booklet.

Note: Part A has 8 NAT questions, 10 MSQ questions and 26 MCQ questions. Part B has five questions carrying 20 marks each.

CEED Part A Marking Scheme 2027

Note: MSQ questions follow the marking rules prescribed in the CEED 2027 brochure. An incorrect response or an applicable non-attempt condition can affect the marks awarded.

CEED Part B Structure 2027

Part B contains five questions designed to assess sketching, creativity, form sensitivity, visual sensitivity and problem identification. Each area carries 20 marks, making Part B worth 100 marks. The questions are displayed on the computer, while candidates write or draw their responses in the provided answer booklet.

Note: Part B is manually evaluated only for candidates who are shortlisted through the Part A cutoff. The final CEED score gives 25% weightage to Part A and 75% weightage to Part B.

CEED Syllabus 2027

The CEED Syllabus 2027 covers visualisation, spatial reasoning, observation, design sensitivity, analytical reasoning, creativity, language, art and design knowledge, and design methods. Part B focuses on drawing, creativity, communication and problem identification. IIT Bombay describes the listed topics as indicative rather than an exhaustive list of questions that will appear in the examination.

Note: IIT Bombay does not prescribe a specific textbook or preparation guide for CEED. The brochure recommends practising drawing, rendering and visualisation and using previous question papers for preparation.

CEED Preparation 2027

CEED preparation should balance aptitude practice with regular drawing and creative exercises. Start Part A preparation with visualisation, spatial reasoning, observation, logical reasoning and design sensitivity. Practise Part B through timed sketching, creative interpretation and problem-identification exercises. Previous question papers can help understand the question style and improve time management.

A useful preparation routine should include concept revision, timed practice and mock tests. Review mistakes after each practice session and identify questions that take excessive time. Drawing practice should focus on observation, proportion, form, perspective and clear visual communication.

CEED Admit Card 2027

IIT Bombay will release the CEED Admit card 2027 from January 1, 2027, at 1 PM. Candidates can download the admit card online until the examination date. A clear printout of the admit card is required at the examination centre. Candidates can report discrepancies in the admit card until January 8, 2027, at 5 PM.

Candidates must carry the admit card and an original valid photo ID on the examination day. They should also follow the prescribed instructions regarding drawing materials and permitted items.

CEED Answer Key 2027

IIT Bombay will release the draft answer key for Part A on January 19, 2027. Candidates can submit comments on the draft answer key through the candidate portal until January 21, 2027, at 5 PM. The final answer key will be released on January 26, 2027, at 5 PM.

The answer key process applies to Part A. Candidates can download their Part A responses and use the final answer key to review their performance.

CEED Result 2027

IIT Bombay will declare the CEED 2027 result on March 3, 2027. Part A marks are used to shortlist candidates for Part B evaluation. Part B is manually evaluated for shortlisted candidates, and the final CEED score is calculated using 25% of the Part A marks and 75% of the Part B marks.

Note: The scorecard includes the CEED score and remains valid for one year from the result declaration date. Candidates shortlisted through Part A receive a rank based on the final evaluation.

CEED Cutoff 2027

IIT Bombay will announce the CEED Cutoff 2027 Part A on February 4, 2027. The cutoff is used to shortlist candidates whose Part B responses will be evaluated. The General category cutoff is calculated using the prescribed mean and standard deviation formula. Separate factors apply to OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST and PwD candidates.

Note: The CEED Part A cutoff is different from institute-level admission requirements. Participating institutes can apply their own selection process and eligibility conditions.

CEED Counselling 2027

CEED does not have a centralised counselling process that provides direct admission to all participating institutes. After qualifying, candidates must apply separately to the institutes and programmes they wish to join. Each institute can prescribe its own application process, eligibility requirements, tests or interviews.

CEED-qualified candidates can apply for M.Des and PhD programmes at participating institutes. The participating institutes include IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IISc Bangalore, IIITDM Jabalpur and IIITDM Kancheepuram.

Candidates should check the admission notification CEED Counselling Process of each institute after the CEED result because the application schedule and selection process can differ.

CEED Exam Centres 2027

CEED 2027 will be conducted across 30 listed cities. Candidates must select three cities in order of preference during registration. IIT Bombay does not accept requests to change the examination city after submission of the registration form.

Note: IIT Bombay may remove a city if there are insufficient candidates and may add or remove examination cities depending on administrative requirements.
