The Directorate of Health Services conducts the admissions process for GNM Nursing admission in Meghalaya. The department releases a public notice annually declaring to start the admission process. Candidates who have pass 10+2 and have cleared the screening test or an entrance exam are eligible to apply for the course. The application process begins with students filling in an application form and remitting the specified fee online. Once the exam is complete, the screening is done to prepare the merit list.

 

General Nursing and Midwifery is a nursing diploma course. Students are trained in this course to become nurses and midwives. The course typically takes three years to complete, and an internship lasts for six months. The course includes patient care, general medical routine and health conditions in the community.

Meghalaya GNM Nursing Eligibility Criteria

Many students in Meghalaya choose the GNM Nursing diploma to start their careers in nursing. Students must meet the required eligibility criteria which are mentioned below:

  • Students are required to have finished 10+2 (higher secondary) from a recognised board with 40% marks in aggregate.
  • A background in Science is required, but students from the Arts or Vocational streams with Healthcare Science are eligible too.
  • English is compulsory in the 10+2 curriculum, and students must obtain at least 40% aggregate and 40% in English.
  • Those who have done State Open School or NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) certificate are also eligible.

  • Candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the year of admission. The highest age allowed for recruitment purposes is 35 years. For those registered as ANMs, there is no limit on their age.
  • People who apply should live in Meghalaya permanently and provide proof of their residence.
  • Residential students must have a medical clearance signed by a registered medical officer.
  • According to the quota for students with disabilities, only those who have a locomotor (movement-related) disability of 40% to 50% are considered eligible, as declared by a medical officer.
  • Meghalaya health authorities administer a state-level test for admission into the nursing program.

This is the step-by-step admission procedure of Meghalaya GNM Nursing 2025, considering the Directorate of Health Services, Meghalaya as the principal authority.
