The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) program is a 3-year course followed by 6 months of internship, which prepares the students for careers in clinical nursing and midwifery. The course focuses on topics like anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pediatric care, mental health nursing, and maternal health, and many more. Students receive both theoretical instructions and hands-on clinical experiences in hospitals, community health settings, and maternity clinics.

 

To be eligible for admission to the GNM program, candidates must complete 10+2 (Higher Secondary) education from a recognized board, in any stream, preferably with English, having 50%-60% of marks. Admission is generally based on qualification in class 12, although some states and institutes may conduct entrance exams, interviews, or counseling sessions as part of the selection process.

GNM Uttarakhand Admission Process

To take admission in the GNM course in Uttarakhand, candidates might need to take an admission exam conducted by the university, or also consider the state-level entrance exam. Candidates might also have to take part in an interview or counselling process after passing the examination. However, many colleges also offer admission on a merit basis. For reference, the admission process for pursuing General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) at Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University Dehradun (DBUU Dehradun)is given below.

 

Step 1: To apply for admission in the Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University (DBUU), students have to complete an online application form available on the admission portal of the university.

 

Step 2: Candidates are allowed to submit their application before receiving their final exam results for the 12th class.

 

Step 3: When filling out the form, they should fill all personal and educational details carefully and select their preferred programs in order of priority.

 

Step 4: An application fee of INR 1,500 and a separate admission fee of INR 7,000 - Online payment should be made using net banking, credit/debit card, or e-wallet.

 

Step 5: After successfully submitting the form, the system will generate a unique application number, which serves as a reference to all further communications.

 

Step 6: Candidates should upload scanned copies of several documents after submitting the application form to complete the admission process.. If the student has taken a gap year, a different certificate is also necessary, explaining the reason.

 

Step 7: Once the documents are uploaded, students will have to pay the program fee online through the university fee payment portal. Login credentials for payment are provided after the application submission.

 

Step 8: Payments can be made through UPI, Debit or Credit Card, or Net Banking, and a small convenience fee can be applied.

 

Step 9: After successful payment of the fee, the student or guardian will receive an online receipt, which should be printed and placed safely for future reference.
