MBA Logistics and Supply Chain Management FAQs

Is an MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management only suitable for people with an engineering background?

Not at all. While engineers may have an edge in whole analytics or systems thinking, this particular program is open to graduates from any stream. What truly matters is your interest in operations, coordination, planning, and business strategy. In fact, students from commerce, management, or even arts backgrounds perform well if they have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Will I get global job opportunities after pursuing this course in India?

Yes, logistics and supply chain roles are globally present. There are many companies operating in India, like Maersk, Amazon, DHL, and FedEx, which offer placements in international markets. If you have internship experience, along with the certifications like Six Sigma or SAP SCM, and you have good communication skills, you can easily qualify for roles in the Middle East, Europe, or Southeast Asia.

How important is tech knowledge in this MBA specialization?

Having tech knowlege is important nowadays. Majority of the companies rely on tools like SAP, Oracle SCM, blockchain for tracking, and AI-based demand forecasting. You don't need to be a coder, but you should be comfortable about the whole learning process for digital tools and data-driven platforms.

Can I switch to this field from a different MBA specialization or career line?

Yes, switching is possible. Many professionals from marketing, finance, or general MBA backgrounds changes into logistics roles only after earning some relevant certifications (like CSCP, APICS) and project experience. If you have a soldi base for the organizational, planning, or vendor management skills, the change or switch will be easy.

Does this specialization offer more on-field roles or desk jobs?

It totally depends on the job profile and the company. If you take up roles in warehouse operations, plant logistics, or vendor coordination it may require to have on-ground presence. On the other hand, positions in supply planning, procurement strategy, or SCM consulting are mostly desk-based. The good news is you can choose based on your preference — operational or strategic.
