NEET-PG 2026 Qualifying Cutoff for MD Microbiology
The qualifying cutoff for NEET-PG is different from the MD Microbiology college admission cutoff. NBEMS determines the minimum qualifying criteria for NEET-PG, while the effective branch-wise closing rank is generated through counselling according to candidate merit, seat availability, category, quota and choices. For NEET-PG 2025, NBEMS initially declared the following qualifying scores out of 800:
These were the original NEET-PG 2025 qualifying scores. NBEMS subsequently reduced the qualifying percentile for counselling in January 2026. The revised qualifying criteria were 7th percentile for General/EWS, 5th percentile for General PwBD and 0th percentile for SC/ST/OBC, with revised scores of 103, 90 and -40, respectively.
The qualifying score should not be confused with the rank required to obtain an MD Microbiology seat. A candidate may qualify NEET-PG but still not receive a particular MD Microbiology seat because college-wise allotment depends on merit and available seats.
Previous-Year MD Microbiology NEET-PG Cutoff 2025
The 2025 MCC counselling data is the latest completed official allotment dataset available for comparing MD Microbiology ranks. MCC's current PG documents include the final Round 3 result, admitted candidates up to Round 3 and the final Stray Vacancy Round result. The following table presents selected MD Microbiology allotments from the 2025 Round 3 result:
Note: These are individual allotment ranks, not official closing ranks for every college or category. The MCC result records the institute, course, seat type, allotted category and candidate rank for each allotment.
MD Microbiology NEET-PG Cutoff: Government Medical Colleges
Government medical colleges offering MD Microbiology can have different closing ranks depending on category, quota and counselling round. The 2025 Round 3 result provides examples of MD Microbiology allotments in government institutions. The NSC Government Medical College, Khandwa allotment at rank 146,475 was recorded as an MD Microbiology seat under the SC category in the Round 3 result.
MCC's 2025 counselling records also include MD Microbiology seats at government institutions such as Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences, Government Medical College Shahdol, Government Medical College Pali, Government Medical College Shivpuri, Government Medical College Jalgaon and Government Medical College Miraj in later counselling/vacancy data. These should be compared only after checking the specific round and category.
MD Microbiology NEET-PG Cutoff: Deemed and Private Medical Colleges
Private and deemed medical colleges can have MD Microbiology allotments at different ranks because their seat categories, fee structures, quotas and candidate preferences differ. The official allotment data demonstrates that the same speciality can have substantially different allotment ranks even within the same counselling round because the college and category are different. Selected 2025 Round 3 examples are given below:
MD Microbiology NEET-PG Cutoff: Category-Wise
Category-wise MD Microbiology allotments in the 2025 MCC data included General, OBC, SC and ST candidates. The table is intended to show actual allotment examples, rather than establish a category-wise closing-rank range. Category, quota, college and round must be considered together when interpreting the figures. Selected examples are shown below.
MD Microbiology NEET-PG Cutoff: Round-Wise Trend
NEET-PG closing ranks can change between counselling rounds. Candidates may upgrade, resign, withdraw or leave seats vacant, while additional seats can also be added during counselling. The 2025 Round 3 data includes MD Microbiology allotments at ranks ranging from the 1.46 lakh range to above 1.74 lakh in the selected examples above. MCC has published the 2025 final Round 3 and Stray Vacancy Round results, which can be used to compare the 2026 allotment results once they become available.
Factors Affecting MD Microbiology NEET-PG Cutoff
MCC's published allotment documents record the institute, course, rank, quota/seat type and allotted category, allowing candidates to compare these factors together rather than looking at rank alone. Several factors determine the closing rank for MD Microbiology at a particular medical college:
- NEET-PG rank: Candidates are considered according to their merit position and submitted choices.
- Category: General, EWS, OBC, SC, ST and PwBD categories can have different applicable seats and eligibility conditions.
- Quota: AIQ and other applicable institutional or state-linked quotas may have different allotment conditions.
- College: The number of available MD Microbiology seats and candidate preferences affect the rank at which seats are allotted.
- Counselling round: Ranks can change between Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and vacancy rounds.
- Seat availability: Newly added, withdrawn or vacant seats can affect later-round allotments.
- Candidate choices: The order of colleges entered during choice filling directly affects the allotment process.
- Institution type: Government, deemed and private medical colleges have different seat structures and counselling arrangements.
