IICD Exam Pattern 2026 has been released by Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD) for its design courses. The exam pattern of IICD 2026 includes the mode, duration, sections, number of questions, marking scheme, and the process of evaluation. Candidates prepare accordingly after knowing the exam pattern. The IICD Exam 2026 has 3 important parts: A. General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test, B. Material, Color & Conceptual Test, C. Personal Interview. There is a fixed weightage for each section in the final shortlisting. IICD Exam Pattern 2026: Overview

IICD Exam Pattern 2026: General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test

This test is designed to evaluate the abilities and interests in students, such as estimation of sizes and proportion, observation, synthesis and visual interpretation and general awareness. Candidates must start collecting their Art Work and Portfolio before starting the IICD 2026 Application Process for the Personal Interview round.

IICD Exam Pattern 2026: Material, Color & Conceptual Test

This test will assess the abilities like Intelligent use of materials, conceptualize and realize a 3 dimensional form, and skill of handling material. The IICD exam pattern include this online test to observe, think and expand ideas and create solution based on a plan and strategy. The material, colour, and concecptual test evaluates the ability to provide multiple solutions to the given problem with written description. The material required for the test are pencils (HB, 2B, 4B & 6B), eraser, scale, cello tape, paper cutter, pens, fevistick, compass, color pencils or dry pastels or water color, scissor, brushes etc.

IICD Exam Pattern 2026: Personal Interview Round

The IICD Personal Interview Round will be conducted online from 1st May 2026. The PI round exact dates will be mentioned on the IICD 2026 Admit Card. The time duration for this round is 20 minutes. Candidates will have to submit their Portfolio or Art Work during PI round. A panel of experts evaluates the candidate’s personality, communication skills, and knowledge of design. It will be conducted via WhatsApp. The key aspects evaluated in the Interview are:

• Aptitude for Crafts and Design: Interest and knowledge about traditional and modern design.
• Intelligence Quotient (IQ): Ability to think logically and solve problems.
• Communication Skills: Clarity, confidence, and articulation.
• General Awareness: Knowledge about crafts, materials, and design trends.
• Personal Achievements: Academic and extracurricular accomplishments.

Portfolio Submission (PI Round)

It is a part of the Personal Interview round. It evaluates the candidate’s artistic and creative skills. Check out the following points for portfolio guidelines. A portfolio may include the following creative works:

• Sketches and Drawings: Hand-drawn or digital illustrations.
• Paintings and Digital Art: Artwork using various mediums.
• Embroidery and Textile Work: Fabric-based designs.

• Material Work: Handmade craft projects.
• Writing Samples: Articles, essays, or creative writing related to design.

IICD Exam 2026 Written Test (Statement of Purpose - SoP)

The Written Test assesses a candidate’s thought process, creativity, and ability to express ideas clearly. Candidates must submit a Statement of Purpose (SoP) explaining their interest in crafts and design.
