Candidates applying for regular M.Des at NID Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Bengaluru need a recognised bachelor's degree or an accepted equivalent qualification. The M.Des route has separate age criteria from the after-10+2 programmes.

Read NID DAT Exam Pattern 2027 for more informationNID DAT Prelims 2027

NID will conduct DAT Prelims on December 20, 2026. The paper will be conducted across the listed test cities in English. NID uses Prelims for shortlisting and does not carry the Prelims score into final merit.

For the B.Des and Integrated Pathway, NID will shortlist candidates equal to 2.5 times the available seats in each category, subject to the applicable tie-break rules.

NID DAT Mains 2027

NID has not announced the Mains dates. For B.Des and the Integrated Pathway, the 2027-28 admission process includes a Studio Sensitivity Test and an In-Person Sensitivity Test.

The current handbook does not publish the final weightage split between these two Mains components. The 2026 cycle used a 60:40 split, but NID has not confirmed that ratio for 2027-28.

NID DAT M.Des Exam Pattern 2027

M.Des candidates take a common DAT Prelims paper for the applicable disciplines. NID uses Prelims performance for Mains shortlisting. The regular M.Des Mains process includes a Studio Test and discipline-wise interview under the applicable admission route.

The current 2027 handbook does not provide a fixed question count or total marks for Prelims. Candidates should use the admit card and later NID notices for examination-specific instructions.

NID DAT Syllabus 2027

NID does not publish a chapter-wise syllabus for DAT. The 2027-28 handbook describes Prelims through text and visual questions and assesses design-related knowledge, skills and behavioural abilities. It does not provide an official chapter list or topic-wise weightage.

The NID DAT Syllabus explains previous-paper trends separately. Topics such as colour theory, perspective, visual reasoning and general awareness should not appear as an official NID syllabus unless NID publishes them.

Previous NID papers remain useful for understanding question formats and task types. Candidates can use the NID DAT Question Papers to study earlier papers without treating their topics as the official 2027 syllabus.

NID DAT Admit Card 2027

NID DAT Answer Key and Retotalling 2027

NID has not listed a separate official answer-key release in the 2027-28 admission schedule. The institute provides a retotalling facility after the Prelims result. Retotalling checks the recorded marks and total. It does not provide a fresh evaluation of subjective responses.

The section can cover the answer-key status separately from the official retotalling process.
