RRB Section Controller Selection Process 2026

The Railway Recruitment Board conducts the RRB Section Controller recruitment 2026 through a four-stage selection process to recruit eligible candidates for 119 Section Controller posts. The recruitment initiates with a 100-mark Computer-Based Test, followed by the Computer-Based Aptitude Test. Candidates who qualify both stages are called for the Document Verification and Medical Examination before the final appointment. The final selection is based on merit marks and successful completion of all recruitment stages. The stage-wise RRB Section Controller Selection Process 2026 is explained below.

  1. Computer-Based Test: The CBT is the first stage of the RRB Section Controller selection process and is qualifying in nature for shortlisting candidates for CBAT. The examination consists of 100 objective-type questions. Candidates will get 2 hours to answer the 100-mark exam. The questions will be asked from Analytical & Mathematical Capability, Logical Capability, and Mental Reasoning. RRB has implied a negative marking of 1/3 for every wrong answer. If CBT is held in multiple shifts, then the marks of candidates will be normalised as per the difficulty level of the exam. Additionally, candidates have to secure the category-wise qualifying marks to pass the CBT round.
  2. Computer-Based Aptitude Test: Candidates are shortlisted for the CBAT based on their performance in the CBT, with up to eight times the number of advertised vacancies called for this stage. The CBAT is conducted only in English and Hindi, and candidates must obtain a minimum T-score of 42 in each test battery to qualify. There is no negative marking in the CBAT, and no relaxation in the minimum qualifying T-score for any category. The final merit list is prepared by giving 70% weightage to CBT marks and 30% weightage to CBAT marks. Candidates appearing for the CBAT must also produce a Vision Certificate in the original form.
  3. Document Verification: Candidates are shortlisted for Document Verification based on their combined merit, calculated using 70% CBT marks and 30% CBAT marks. Candidates equal to the number of notified vacancies will be called for DV according to their merit and railway preferences. During this stage, candidates must produce all original educational, category, identity, and other required certificates. Failure to present the original document on the scheduled date may result in cancellation of the candidature.
  4. Medical Examination: Candidates who complete the Document Verification process must undergo a medical examination conducted by the concerned Railway Administration. The medical examination is conducted to verify whether candidates meet the required medical standards for the Section Controller post. Candidates who qualify the medical examination round will get the RRB Section Controller 2026 appointment letter.
