The SSC JE Paper-I 2026 will be conducted as an objective-type Computer-Based Examination from November 2 to 6, 2026, as per the latest exam schedule released by the Staff Selection Commission. The paper will comprise 200 questions carrying 200 marks. Candidates will get 2 hours to complete the Paper 1 test. It will cover General Intelligence and Reasoning (50 questions for 50 marks), General Awareness (50 questions for 50 marks), and General Engineering (100 questions for 100 marks) based on the candidate’s chosen discipline, Civil & Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. Candidates will receive 1 mark for each correct answer, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response.
Candidates shortlisted based on their performance in Paper-I will appear for SSC JE Paper-II 2026, which is scheduled to be conducted in December 2026. Paper-II will be a Computer-Based Examination focusing on the General Engineering subject (Civil & Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical) selected by the candidate in the application form. Paper 2 will carry 300 marks and will be held for 2 hours, with questions based on Civil & Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. The examination is tentatively scheduled for December 2026. There will be negative marking of 1 mark for each incorrect answer in Paper 2. The marks obtained by candidates will be calculated to decide the SSC JE final merit 2026.
