TS ICET 2026 Rank Calculation, Normalisation & Tie-Breaking
TS ICET's raw score, normalisation, and tie-breaking rules together determine the final rank shown on your card, and understanding them helps explain why two candidates with similar marks can end up with different ranks.
Raw score: Each correct response earns +1 mark, with no negative marking for incorrect or unattempted questions. Your raw score is simply your number of correct attempts.
Normalisation: Since TS ICET is conducted across multiple shifts of varying difficulty, TGCHE applies a normalisation formula to place all candidates on a comparable scale, regardless of which shift they appeared in. This can raise the effective score of candidates who faced a harder shift, or lower it for those who faced an easier one, based on the average performance of test-takers in each session.
Tie-breaking: When two or more candidates have identical normalised scores, TGCHE resolves the tie in this order: first, the candidate with the higher score in Section A (Analytical Ability); if still tied, the candidate with the higher score in Section B (Mathematical Ability); and if the tie persists even after that, the older candidate is ranked higher.
