According to WB ANM/GNM Eligibility Criteria 2025, only female candidates are eligible for the ANM course, while both male and female candidates can apply for the GNM course. The minimum age to apply is 17 years with no upper age limit. Applicants must have passed the 10+2 examination with English as a mandatory language and score at least 40%. A 5% relaxation in marks is available for candidates from SC, ST, OBC-Category A and B communities. All candidates must submit a Medical Fitness Certificate at the time of admission. The Reservation Policy of WB ANM GNM 2025 follows the regulations of the Indian Nursing Council and the Dept of H&FW, Govt. of WB for admission in reserved seats for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD (Persons with Disabilities), and EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) candidates. WB ANM/ GNM Eligibility Criteria 2025: Education

To be eligible for WB ANM and GNM Entrance Exams, candidates must pass the ‘10+2’ examination from any recognised Board with at least 40% marks in aggregate. For SC/ST/OBC-Category-A (More Backward / OBC-Category-B (Backward) candidates, 5% relaxation is provided in aggregate marks. The details on educational requirements for WB ANM GNM are as follows:

The candidates who are passing West Bengal Higher Secondary (Vocational) Examination 2023 onwards and opted for “Healthcare Science” under “Community Healthcare” Group must pass in any two of the following combination of Subjects: -

  • Community Health Counselor (COHC)
  • Patient Care Assistant (PTCA)
  • Public Health & First Aid (PHFA)

West Bengal Higher Secondary (Vocational)

 

Examination before 2023

The candidates who passed the West Bengal Higher Secondary (Vocational) Examination before 2023 with “Community Healthcare” Group under “Home Science” Discipline with a combination of 3 vocational papers, namely:

  • Community Nutrition
  • Hospital Management
  • Public Health & First Aid

 

WB ANM/ GNM Eligibility Criteria 2025: Domicile

As per the Domicile requirement set by WBJEEB, applicants must be citizens of India and must be domiciled in West Bengal. They must show a domicile certificate at the time of admission to prove that they are permanent residents of West Bengal uninterruptedly for at least the last ten years till 31.12.2024.

 

WB ANM/ GNM Eligibility Criteria 2025: Language

Applicants must be able to read, write, and express in Bengali and/or Nepali to appear for the ANM & GNM Entrance Exams. Additionally, they must pass English as a mandatory language subject in the 10+2 Examination. However, in case of any confusion regarding the meaning of questions, English or Bengali languages are given as a preference for candidates.

SC/ST/OBC-Category-A (More Backward / OBC-Category-B (Backward) candidates get 5% relaxation in aggregate marks, i.e., 35% in 10+2 Examination. Accordingly, WB ANM GNM reservation policy includes a 3% reservation for locomotor disabled candidates with 40-50% disabilities and 5% for SC/ST candidates. Some important points about the WB GNM ANM Reservation Policies are as follows:

  • Reservation policies of the Indian Nursing Council and the Department of H&FW, Govt. of WB are followed for admission in reserved seats.
  • The Competent Authorities declare the number of category-wise reserved seats before counseling.
  • Candidates must produce a relevant certificate issued by the Competent Authorities to claim a reservation.
  • EWS, PwD, SC/ST, and Civil Defence volunteers under the Home (Civil Defence) Department are eligible to claim reservations.
  • Candidates belonging to orphanages and inmates of destitute Homes recognised by the Social Welfare Department, Govt. of West Bengal, and Homes under the Department of Mass Education Extension and Library Services, Govt. of West Bengal, are also eligible for reserved seats.
