About Agriculture and Food Management Institute

The Agriculture and Food Management Institute (AFMI) was established in 2008 by Maharaja Education Trust (MET) in Mysore, Karnataka. AFMI is affiliated with the Directorate of Technical Education in Bangalore. The institute has also received approval from the AICTE. It offers a postgraduate diploma in agriculture and food business management, with a fee of INR 3.50 Lakhs for a 2-year program. Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Agriculture, Food, Life Sciences, or related fields with at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination. Admission is based on merit and through a multi-level selection process.

 

AFMI accepts the marks of national and state management entrance examinations, such as CAT, MAT, GMAT, ATMA, or any test that AFMI accepts. Candidates who do not have any of these marks can attempt the AFMI Entrance Test, which is an online examination. Shortlisted candidates who clear the written test are called for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). They will then undergo the Psychological and Fitness Test.

AFMI Mysore Admission 2025

The initial step is a written examination. AFMI considers scores of national and state management entrance exams, such as CAT, MAT, GMAT, ATMA, or any other exam they accept. If the candidate does not have these scores, the candidate can opt to take the AFMI Entrance Test, which is written online. Those who qualify in the written test are summoned for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The next step is the Psychological and Fitness Test. Once all the steps in the evaluation are completed, a final result list is prepared.

Accepts valid scores from CAT, MAT, GMAT, ATMA, MANAGE, IRMA, or any other recognised state/national-level management tests. If the candidate doesn’t have these scores, they can appear for the AFMI Online Test.

 

Note: GMAT scores are valid for 5 years.

Group Discussion & Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be called for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

 

GD evaluates speaking/listening skills, subject knowledge, leadership, and personality.

 

PI assesses aptitude, communication skills, business awareness, and career suitability.

Psychological & Fitness Test

Designed to assess a candidate’s attitude, social behaviour, and physical capability to handle demanding work. This stage helps identify candidates from diverse backgrounds with high leadership potential.

Merit List

The final merit list is prepared based on overall performance in all stages. Weightage is given to: Analytical Ability, Academic Background, Leadership Potential, Social Orientation, Work Experience, and Physical Fitness. Extra weightage is available for candidates with relevant professional qualifications.

Confirmation & Admission

Selected candidates must pay the first instalment of fees within 15 days of receiving the admission letter. AFMI reserves the right to reschedule dates without prior notice.

 

CAT 2025 Registration

Candidates planning to appear for CAT 2025 can find complete details about the registration process below:

  • Notification Release: The official CAT 2025 notification was released by IIM Kozhikode on 27 July, 2025.
  • Registration Start Date: The online registration window will open on 1 August, 2025.
  • Last Date to Apply: Candidates must complete their registration by 20 September, 2025.

How to Register:

  • Registration is online only via the official CAT portal.
  • A valid and unique email address and mobile number are required to initiate the registration process.
  • Upon registration, candidates will receive a User ID and Password to log in and complete the application form.

Important Guidelines:

  • Candidates can fill out the form in multiple sessions — progress will be saved automatically.
  • Double-check all details before paying the application fee, as no edits will be allowed after payment.
  • Incomplete or incorrect information may result in the immediate rejection of your application.
  • SC/ST/PwD candidates must upload valid category certificates during the registration process. Category changes are not allowed post-registration.

A correction window will be provided after registration closes, but only for a limited time.
