The State CET Cell has released the CAP Round 2 cutoff list for COEP Technological University for admission to 1st Year Engineering (2026-27). Round 2 has seen a slight shift in cutoffs compared to Round 1, with several branches inching up due to increased demand and seat-locking by candidates. As always, Computer Science and Engineering remains the most competitive branch at COEP, with the General (GOPENS) cutoff closing at a percentile of 99.9723948 (rank 170), followed closely by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at 99.9229935 percentile (rank 377).

Among core branches, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering closed at 99.8422774 percentile (rank 696), while Electrical Engineering settled at 99.6348123 percentile (rank 1562). COEP Technological University is one of the most popular engineering colleges in Maharashtra. Every year, thousands of MHT CET students compete for a limited number of seats in branches such as Computer Engineering, Robotics & AI, ENTC, Electrical, Mechanical, and others.

COEP Cutoff 2026 (Expected Final Round)

The CAP Round 2 cutoff for COEP Pune has now been released. MHT CET counselling for engineering admissions is typically conducted in 3 CAP rounds (with an additional institute-level round in some years), and Round 2 cutoffs usually stay close to Round 1, with only marginal movement, either slightly up for high-demand branches due to seat locking, or slightly down where seats remain vacant.

Category-wise reservation continues to significantly influence the final cutoff for each branch, and this trend is expected to hold through the final round as well. Based on historical patterns, the Round 3 (final round) cutoff usually dips slightly compared to Round 2, as more seats open up through withdrawals and fresh vacancies, though top branches like Computer Engineering and AI/ML tend to hold their ground with minimal drop.

Based on these trends, here's what the final round cutoff is expected to look like for major branches at COEP:

COEP Cutoff 2025

The COEP cutoff 2025 shows the previous year's MHT CET admission trends for engineering courses. Computer Science Engineering, AI & ML, and ENTC were among the most competitive branches, with closing percentiles remaining above 98 percentile.

The CSE cutoff dropped from 99.45 percentile in CAP Round 1 to 98.72 percentile in CAP Round 4, showing that cutoffs generally became lower in later rounds. Students can use the 2025 cutoff to compare previous-year admission trends with the latest COEP MHT CET 2026 Round 2 cutoff.

The table below shows the COEP MHT CET 2025 previous-year cutoff:

B.Tech Branch CAP Round 1 (%ile) Final CAP Round 4 (%ile) Final State Merit Rank
Computer Science Engineering 99.45 98.72 858
Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning 99.34 98.66 925

What Factors Will Affect the COEP Cutoff?

  1. Number of Students Appearing for MHT CET: The biggest factor affecting the cutoff is the number of students taking the MHT CET examination. When more students appear and score high marks, competition increases. This generally pushes the cutoff percentile upward, especially for Computer Engineering and AI-related branches.
  2. Difficulty Level of MHT CET: The difficulty level of the paper has a direct impact on percentile calculations. If the paper is difficult, lower marks may still translate into higher percentiles. If the paper is easier, students need significantly higher marks to achieve the same percentile.
  3. Branch Popularity: Certain branches consistently attract more applicants. Computer Engineering, Robotics & AI, Artificial Intelligence, ENTC, and Electrical Engineering usually receive the highest number of applications. This naturally increases their cutoff compared to branches like Civil, Manufacturing, or Metallurgy.

  4. Seat Availability: The number of seats available in each branch also affects the cutoff. Branches with limited intake often witness higher cutoffs because more students compete for fewer seats. Any increase or decrease in seat intake can directly impact closing percentiles.
  5. CAP Counselling Trends: The counselling process itself influences cutoffs. Many students upgrade their branches in later rounds or withdraw after securing admission elsewhere. Because of this movement, cutoffs often relax slightly from CAP Round 1 to the final round. Students should therefore track all counselling rounds instead of focusing only on the first round.
