IIT Delhi has a vast university campus located in Hauz Khas, New Delhi, on 320 acres with state-of-the-art infrastructure and a pollution-free atmosphere that allows effective studies and research. The institute has extensive facilities of 13 boys' hostels as well as 5 girls' hostels equipped with all the facilities, including reading rooms, indoor games, dining halls, internet connectivity, TV common rooms. The highlight of the campus is the central library of IIT Delhi, which has a collection of more than three lakh printed materials, theses, journals, and computerized materials that are available 24/7, and lots of roomy reading areas that help in creating a sense of scholarship. The sports complex on the campus covers a considerable area and has cricket-football-hockey-volleyball-basketball tennis-squash-badminton-table tennis facilities, and an Olympic swimming pool, gymnasium halls, an athletics 400 meters track, and jogging. IIT Delhi Hostel Facilities
Hostels are an important aspect of student life at IIT Delhi. The Board for Hostel Management (BHM) is in charge of 17 hostels: 12 for men, 4 for women, and 1 for transitory female students. These hostels accommodate around 7,000 students out of a total of 13,000.
While rooms are assigned according to institute policies, not all students, particularly male postgraduate students, are promised immediate dormitory lodging. Undergraduate and graduate students live in both older, non-air-conditioned dorms and newer, centrally air-conditioned rooms. Due to a scarcity of hostel rooms, some students may be forced to seek private lodging off campus.
