IIT Delhi Hostel ensure a comfortable stay for the students. The IIT Delhi Hostels are alloted under the Board for Hostel Management (BHM).

 

IIT Delhi campus has 12 boys hostels and 4 girls hostels. IIT Delhi Hostel Names are mainly Aravali, Girnar, Jwalamukhi, Dronagiri, etc. and girls hostel names are Kailash, Himadri, Sahyadri and Saptagiri. Out of these IIT Delhi Hostel rooms, 13 are old non-A/C hostels and 3 are new A/C hostels.

 

IITD Hostel Facilities include, high-speed Wi-Fi and LAN, reading rooms, indoor games rooms, common lounges, and mess facilities. Students also have access to gyms, basketball and shuttle courts and cricket practice nets within the hostel areas.

IIT Delhi Hostel rooms are available in multiple arrangements, each with a particular fee structure. IITD charges same for the boys' and girls' hostels, IIT Delhi Hostel Fees ranges from INR 7,000 to INR 36,000 per semester. There are also variants with attached bathrooms. IIT Delhi Boys and Girls Hostel

IIT Delhi Boys Hostel includes Nilgiri, Karakoram, Aravali, Jwalamukhi, Satpura, Zanskar, Kumaon, Vindyachal, Shivalik, Girnar, Udaigiri and Dronagiri and Girls Hostel includes Kailash, Himadri, Sahyadiri, Saptagiri and Nalanda with a student population of 13,000. Only7000 hostel seats are available.

  • Sahyadri is meant only for postgraduate students, including PhD scholars. It is not available for students enrolled in 5-year integrated UG+PG programs.
  • Saptagiri is reserved for postgraduate and PhD students only and is not applicable to 5-year integrated UG+PG courses.
  • Nalanda is mainly used as a transit hostel and is not considered a regular long-term student hostel.
  • Dronagiri is available only for postgraduate and PhD students and is not allotted to students of 5-year integrated UG+PG programs.
  • Saptagiri is also limited to postgraduate and PhD students and does not apply to 5-year integrated UG+PG programs.

 

IIT Delhi Hostel Rooms

IIT Delhi Hostel provides shared rooms, where 2, 3, or 4 students share one room based on availability. Single rooms are available in limited numbers and are not guaranteed for everyone. The institute also provides separate family accommodation for married students and transit rooms, which are meant for temporary stay and are different from regular hostel rooms.

IIT Delhi Hostel Rules & Regulations

IIT Delhi hostel rules require students to complete check-in and room inventory formalities on arrival and pay hostel dues as directed by the BHM. Students must maintain silence between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Mentioned below are the IIT Delhi Hostel rules for the students.

  • Students must report to the hostel caretaker or authorised official upon arrival, sign the room inventory, and take possession of the room.
  • Hostel dues must be paid as per the directives of the Board for Hostel Management (BHM).
  • Audio equipment is allowed only if it does not disturb others. Silence norms, especially between 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM, must be followed.
  • Guests may only meet residents in designated common areas; visiting hours are 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
  • Students leaving the hostel after 11:00 PM should make proper entries with purpose, expected return time and update on return for safety.
  • Absence from the hostel for more than 24 hours or for a mess rebate requires prior written permission from the caretaker.
