Odisha DElEd: Admission Process

The Diploma in Elementary Education (DEIED) in Odisha is a two year teaching program. It is managed online through the student academic management system (SAMs) portal. This course is offered by various institutions across the state, including District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), Block Institutes of Education and Training (BIETs), etc.

 

To be eligible for admission to Odisha DEIEd, Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary (+2) examination in Arts, Science, or Commerce with at least 50% aggregate marks. Applicants must have studied Odia as a Modern Indian Language (MIL) up to the HSC level or have passed the HSC examination in the Odia medium. Most importantly, they should be a resident of Odisha. They have to present a valid domicile certificate of Odisha at the time of admission.

 

The admission process is managed online. It is through the SAMS portal that applicants can register themselves and apply for admission. The application fee is INR 500. There is a computer based test conducted. This is an online test, and is mostly MCQ based. This tests the knowledge and aptitude of students for teaching. Topics from English, Logical Reasoning, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and language choice Odia/Telugu/Urdu/Santali) are there. Also, there is negative marking in the test.

Odisha DEIEd Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for admission, candidates must check the eligibility criteria for admission to the Odisha DEIED course. The Odisha DEIEd Eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • Must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Candidates appearing in the 10+2 final examination are also eligible, provided they produce the pass certificate at the time of admission
  • 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 or equivalent for General category candidates
  • 45% marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD categories
  • There is an age limit too..
  • Must be a permanent resident of Odisha with valid domicile proof.
  • Must appear and qualify the Pre-Entry Test (PET) conducted by SCERT Assam.

Odisha DEIEd Admission Process 2025

Admission to the DEIED course in Odisha is based on an entrance test, followed by a counselling process. Students are allotted their institutes based on the marks they obtained in the entrance test. Before applying for admission, candidates must check the eligibility criteria and the required documents for admission. Can DEIED. be pursued in distance mode?

No, Odisha DEIED. is mostly a full-time, classroom program because it involves practical training and internships. Odisha DEIED. is not offered in distance mode in most of the recognised institutions.
