MDS Admission Karnataka

The MDS admission in Karnataka is based on NEET MDS, a national-level examination, for all aspirants. The eligibility criteria require the applicants to have a BDS degree from a Dental Council of India (DCI) recognized institute and they should have completed or in the process of completing the one-year rotatory internship on or before March 31 of the year of admission. Candidates with Karnataka domicile or academic qualifications in Karnataka-based dental colleges are eligible for state quota seats, and those without domicile may seek admission to All India Quota or management/NRI seats, depending on the norms of the institutions.

Admission to top colleges like JSS Dental College and Hospital is available in two categories, namely State Quota, through KEA Counseling, and All India Quota through MCC Counseling. Candidates are required to first register and pass NEET MDS, and make it to the counseling and allotment by the Karnataka Education Authority (KEA) or by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The distribution of seats is dependent on rank, category, and preferences filled in the NEET.

To be admitted into the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) program in Karnataka, the candidates must satisfy the following eligibility requirements:

• Applicants are required to possess a degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) acquired in a dental college accepted by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and need to have finished or must be undergoing the 1-year compulsory rotatory internship up to March 31 of any year of admission.
• All applicants must have a valid NEET MDS score since NEET MDS is the only recognized entry examination in India, including Karnataka, to be considered in the MDS programs.
• The candidates need to either possess a Karnataka domicile or must have done BDS in a reputable dental college in Karnataka. The non-Karnataka applicants can also apply under the All India Quota or management/NRI, according to the regulations of institutions.
• Minimum marks required to be qualified in NEET MDS also depend on category, 50th percentile in the General Category, 40th percentile in SC/ST/OBC, and 45th percentile in the General-PwD category.

MDS Admission in Karnataka 2025

The MDS course offered by JSS Dental College and Hospital is by taking admission under two categories namely, State Quota (Government/Private seats under KEA counseling) and All India Quota (including NRI/ Management seats). KEA takes care of counseling in the state and MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) does counseling of All India Quota seats. The full admission procedure is presented as follows:

Step 1: The candidates should present the NEET MDS examination to be held by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) first. They have to sign up on the official website of NBE, enter the necessary information, add the documents, and pay the examination fee.

Step 2: Once the registration is successful, the candidates will have to present themselves on the appointed date to take the NEET MDS exam. One should adhere to every exam day rule and carry the admit card and a valid photo ID to the exam center.

Step 3: After the announcement of NEET MDS results, one may download the NEET MDS scorecard at the official NBE web page. They should have the minimum percentile required to qualify for the MDS program at SDM College, and the percentage is decided by the Dental Council of India (DCI) according to their category.

Step 4: The eligible candidates have to register in MDS counseling at the KEA site (www.kea.kar.nic.in), for Karnataka state quota seats (including seats in the private colleges such as SDM). The non-Karnataka candidates can also apply under All India management/NRI quota, provided they qualify.

Step 5: In the process of KEA counseling registration, the candidate is expected to put in his/her personal details, academic details, NEET MDS details, any need for document uploading, and they have to make the medical counseling registration fee payment.

Step 6: Candidates are expected to complete their popular college and course options with San Diego Management College of Dental Sciences and Hospital in the top priority list, as per their eligibility and choice.

Step 7: This means that KEA will carry out the process of allotting seats in terms of NEET MDS ranking, category, and reservation policies, as well as the preferences of the candidate. Allotment of seats will be published on the KEA website.

Step 8: In the case the candidate is provided a seat at SDM College, then the candidate will have to acknowledge their seat by depositing the required fee for the seat acknowledgment deadline as set by KEA or MCC (depending on the counseling authority), as the case may be.

Step 9: The last step is that the candidate is required to present all their original documents in person at the JSS Dental College and Hospital for verification. These are usually the BDS degree, completion certificate of the internship, NEET MDS scorecard, allotment letter, Karnataka domicile, category certificate, and government identity.

Step 10: Upon verification, tuition fees have to be paid, and other charges according to the structure of the college. Confirmation of admission will be followed by the commencement of the academic session on the official academic calendar of the college.
