NEST Eligibility Criteria 2026 for Admission

The NEST exam 2026 is conducted for admission in B.Des and M.Des programs in NISER and CEBS. Candidates must meet all three of the eligibility criteria of NEST exam to be eligifor the exam as well as for the admission. Check out the table below for NEST 2026 eligibility criteria for admission.

NEST Reservation Criteria 2026

NEST 2026 seat reservations for all categories are available on the official website, nestexam.in. The OBC-NCL category has 27% of seats reserved for admission through the NEST 2026 examination. On the other hand, the SC/ST/PwD categories have 15%, 7.5%, and 5% of seats reserved for admission to NISER and UM-DAE CEBS. For the Academic years 2026–30, NISER has a total of 200 seats for the Integrated M.Sc. program, while UM-DAE CEBS has 57 seats.

 

Two supernumerary seats are reserved in both NISER and CEBS for qualified candidates from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, in conformity with the prevailing government policies. A student belonging to a specific category will be eligible for a general seat if he or she achieves an appropriate general ranking. NEST Seat Reservation 2026

NEST 2026 provides a fixed reservation of seats to students at the time of admission to NISER and CEBS, in compliance with category-based reservation rules such as General, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD. In case seats reserved for any category do not get filled up, there are certain provisions by which these unfilled seats would be allotted. For example, vacant seats in the OBC-NCL category will get transferred to the General category, but unfilled positions in the SC or ST categories will stay within their respective categories.
