RRB ALP Eligibility Criteria 2026: Nationality/Citizenship

The first and foremost criterion covers the nationality/ citizenship requirements for the candidates. Primarily, Indian citizens are eligible forthe RRB ALP 2026 recruitment. However, certain other categories like citizens of Nepal, citizens of Bhutan, Tibetan refugees, Person of Indian Origin are also eligible for recruitment under this post, only on the condition that they are mandatorily required to possess a Certificate of Eligibility. The Certificate of Eligibility should be issued and verified by the concerned Government authority.

RRB ALP Eligibility Criteria 2026: Age Relaxation

Age relaxation is provided for candidates belonging to categories like SC, ST, OBC, etc. These ensure inclusion and equal employment opportunities across certain categories, differing for different categories as per the guidelines released by the Railway Recruitment Board. It must be noted that the candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC category and applying for UR vacancies will not be entitled to any age relaxation.

RRB ALP Eligibility Criteria 2026: Educational Qualification

Under the Educational Qualification Criteria, the candidates must possess the prescribed Technical Qualification from a recognised institution. Those candidates who are in their final year and haven’t yet received their educational certificates are not eligible to apply. Thus, RRB requires only those candidates to apply who have completed their technical qualification before the closing date of the application.

RRB ALP Eligibility Criteria 2026: Medical Standard

Medical Fitness of the candidates is verified during the Document Verification/ Medical examination Stage. This is considered extremely important due to the safety-critical nature of the responsibilities given under the Assistant Loco Pilot position. The Board ensures the suitability of the candidates for the ALP position in the Indian Railways in both the physical and mental aspects. Candidates with poor vision and correction dependency are not eligible; they should necessarily have strong vision acuity.
