SSC Selection Post Latest news and articles
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has not released the Phase 14 cutoff yet. It will be published post-wise and category-wise with the result. For reference, in Phase 13 (2025) the middle half of posts had a UR cutoff of 147 to 179 out of 200 at Matriculation level, 126 to 171 at Higher Secondary level and 101 to 134 at Graduation & Above level. The full range across all posts was wider, as shown below.
The Phase 14 Computer Based Examination was held from 16 to 26 September 2026 for all three levels. The cutoff figures on this page are taken from SSC’s official Phase 13 result write-ups, and the rules from the Phase 14 notice (Advertisement No. Phase-XIV/2026/Selection Posts).
Latest Update: SSC has released the Phase 14 tentative answer keys and response sheets, and the window for challenges has closed. The result, along with the official post-wise cutoff, is the next step. Until then, candidates can use the Phase 13 cutoffs below as a reference.

SSC Selection Post Phase 14 Expected Cut Off 2026: Previous-Year Reference
SSC does not publish an expected cutoff, and no reliable single figure is possible, because Selection Post has a separate cutoff for every post code and category. The most useful reference is what happened in Phase 13. The table below does not show the full range. It shows where the middle half of posts fell in Phase 13 (from the 25th to the 75th percentile of post-wise cutoffs), with the median post in brackets. A quarter of posts had cutoffs below this band and a quarter above it; the lowest and highest cutoffs are in the full-range table further down.
| Level | UR | OBC | EWS | SC | ST |
| Matriculation | 147–179 (median 161) | 138–176 (median 163) | 89–172 (median 136) | 138–176 (median 151) | 131–166 (median 145) |
| Higher Secondary | 126–171 (median 149) | 114–166 (median 149) | 99–166 (median 134) | 123–163 (median 140) | 103–140 (median 115) |
| Graduation & Above | 101–134 (median 121) | 94–126 (median 114) | 81–122 (median 102) | 85–123 (median 110) | 74–109 (median 96) |
Middle half of posts (25th to 75th percentile) with the median; not the full range. Marks out of 200 (normalised), calculated from the post-wise cutoffs in SSC’s Phase 13 result write-ups. This is a previous-year reference, not a prediction for Phase 14.
What this means for Phase 14:
- Cutoffs do not rise with the qualification level. In Phase 13, Matriculation posts had the highest cutoffs and Graduation & Above the lowest. This is likely because questions are set at the level of each qualification, so the Graduation paper is harder.
- Your own post matters more than any average. A post with more vacancies or fewer applicants usually has a lower cutoff than a popular post with one or two vacancies.
- Raw scores are not the final score. Cutoffs are applied to normalised marks, so a raw score worked out from the answer key can move up or down after normalisation.
To estimate your raw score, use the tentative answer key and response sheet; see the SSC Selection Post answer key page.
SSC Selection Post Phase 13 Cut Off 2025 (Previous Year)
The Phase 13 Computer Based Examination was held from 24 July to 2 August 2025 and on 29 August 2025, and the results were declared in February 2026. SSC published the cutoff separately for each post code and category in Annexure-I of each level’s result write-up.
| Level | Completed applications | Candidates shortlisted | Post codes with a cutoff |
| Matriculation | 12,09,332 | 17,720 | 92 |
| Higher Secondary | 7,08,219 | 14,768 | 83 |
| Graduation & Above | 10,21,850 | 35,055 | 180 |
Phase 13 Full Cut Off Range: Lowest to Highest
This table shows the full range: the lowest and highest post-wise cutoff in each category, out of 200. It is wider than the middle-half band in the reference table above, because it includes the posts with unusually low or high cutoffs.
| Category | Matriculation | Higher Secondary | Graduation & Above |
| UR | 109.07–184.46 | 88.11–176.57 | 60.32–145.42 |
| OBC | 93.53–179.23 | 96.04–174.20 | 50.06–141.80 |
| EWS | 51.21–177.89 | 51.73–170.75 | 50.30–138.23 |
| SC | 102.78–179.53 | 104.63–169.08 | 42.85–133.41 |
| ST | 93.62–167.05 | 64.69–157.16 | 45.55–123.37 |
PwBD and ex-servicemen categories had much lower cutoffs, often close to the minimum qualifying marks, because all such candidates who meet the minimum are shortlisted.
Highest Phase 13 UR Cut Offs
| Level | Post code | UR cutoff |
| Matriculation | WR12225 | 184.46 |
| Matriculation | WR11825 | 182.85 |
| Higher Secondary | CR10225 | 176.57 |
| Higher Secondary | KK13025 | 176.19 |
| Graduation & Above | NR19925 | 145.42 |
| Graduation & Above | NW10125 | 145.32 |
The Part-A, Part-B and Part-C marks and the date of birth in the official table are the tie-break details of the last candidate shortlisted. To find the cutoff for your own post, search for your Phase 13 post code in the write-up for your level.
SSC Selection Post Phase 14 Minimum Qualifying Marks
The Phase 14 notice (Para 19.7) sets these minimum marks. Candidates scoring below them are not considered for the next stage, whatever the post-wise cutoff:
| Category | Minimum qualifying marks | Out of 200 |
| UR | 30% | 60 marks |
| OBC / EWS | 25% | 50 marks |
| All other categories | 20% | 40 marks |
The minimum qualifying marks are only a floor. The actual cutoff for a post is set by merit and is usually much higher: in Phase 13, the median UR cutoff was 161 at Matriculation level, against a minimum of 60.
How Many Candidates Are Shortlisted
As per Para 19.8 of the notice, SSC shortlists candidates for the next stage (document scrutiny) post-wise, in this ratio:
| Vacancies in a category of post | Candidates shortlisted |
| Up to 5 | 30 per vacancy (1:30) |
| More than 5 | 15 per vacancy (1:15), minimum 150 |
| Reserved for PwBD, PwBD-Others or ESM | All candidates who meet the minimum qualifying marks |
So the cutoff for a post is simply the normalised score of the last candidate who falls inside this shortlist. The more candidates compete for a post with few vacancies, the higher it goes.
Factors That Decide the SSC Selection Post Cut Off
| Factor | How it affects the cutoff |
| Vacancies in the post and category | Posts with up to 5 vacancies shortlist 30 per vacancy, so popular single-vacancy posts can have very high cutoffs |
| Number of applicants for the post | Selection Post has a separate merit list for each post code, so competition differs from post to post |
| Paper difficulty across shifts | The exam runs over several days; harder shifts lower raw scores |
| Normalisation | SSC normalises marks across shifts, and the cutoff is applied to normalised marks |
| Minimum qualifying marks | No candidate below 60 (UR), 50 (OBC/EWS) or 40 (others) marks is shortlisted, whatever the vacancies |
Normalisation in SSC Selection Post
As per Para 15.3 of the Phase 14 notice, marks from multiple shifts are normalised using the procedure in SSC’s notice dated 2 June 2025, and these normalised scores decide the final merit and cutoff. This is why Phase 13 cutoffs have decimals, such as 181.32997.
Tie-Break Rule
When candidates have the same total score, SSC breaks the tie in this order (Para 20 of the notice):
- Total normalised marks in the CBE
- Marks in Part-A (General Intelligence)
- Marks in Part-B (General Awareness)
- Marks in Part-C (Quantitative Aptitude)
- Date of birth, with the older candidate placed higher
- Alphabetical order of names
This is why the official cutoff tables also show Part-A, B and C marks and a date of birth for each cutoff.

FAQs on SSC Selection Post Phase 14 Cut Off 2026
Has SSC released the Selection Post Phase 14 cutoff?
Not yet. SSC publishes the cutoff post-wise with the result, after the tentative answer key challenges are reviewed.
How much will the SSC Phase 14 cutoff be?
No official estimate exists. As a reference, in Phase 13 the middle half of posts had a UR cutoff of 147 to 179 out of 200 for Matriculation, 126 to 171 for Higher Secondary and 101 to 134 for Graduation & Above. Individual posts fell outside these bands.
What was the Phase 13 cutoff for Matriculation-level posts?
UR cutoffs ranged from 109.07 to 184.46 out of 200 across posts, with a median of about 161.
What was the Phase 13 cutoff for OBC candidates?
The median OBC cutoff was about 163 for Matriculation, 149 for Higher Secondary and 114 for Graduation & Above, out of 200.
Why is the Graduation-level cutoff lower than the Matriculation-level cutoff?
Each level has its own paper, set at the level of that qualification, so the Graduation paper is likely harder and scores lower. In Phase 13, the median UR cutoff was 121 for Graduation & Above against 161 for Matriculation.
What are the minimum qualifying marks for SSC Selection Post Phase 14?
30% (60 marks) for UR, 25% (50 marks) for OBC and EWS, and 20% (40 marks) for other categories. These are only the minimum; post-wise cutoffs are usually much higher.
Is there one common cutoff for all Selection Posts?
No. SSC sets a separate cutoff for every post code and category, so two posts at the same level can have very different cutoffs.
Is the cutoff based on raw or normalised marks?
Normalised marks. A raw score worked out from the answer key can change after normalisation.
Where can I find the official Phase 13 cutoff for my post?
In Annexure-I of the Phase-XIII/2025 result write-up for your level, under the RHQ tab of the Result section on ssc.gov.in.
