XAT Eligibility Criteria 2027: Educational Qualifications, Age Limit, Nationality & Reservation

XAT eligibility criteria 2027 specify the academic qualifications and other conditions candidates must meet to appear for the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT). As per the official XAT website, candidates with a recognised bachelor’s degree of at least three years’ duration, or an equivalent qualification in any discipline, can apply for XAT 2027. Candidates appearing for their final examinations by June 12, 2027 are also eligible to apply.

XAT 2027 is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on behalf of the XAMI members. The XAT score is used by participating management institutes for admission to their MBA/ PGDM programmes. However, qualifying for XAT does not automatically make a candidate eligible for every participating institute or programme, as individual institutes may have their own admission and selection criteria.

XAT Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for XAT 2027 must fulfil the following academic requirement:

• Candidates must have a recognised bachelor’s degree of at least three years’ duration, or an equivalent qualification.
• The degree can be in any discipline.
• Candidates who are appearing for their final examinations can also apply, provided they complete their final examinations by June 12, 2027.

The official XAT eligibility criteria do not restrict applicants to a particular undergraduate stream. Therefore, candidates with bachelor's degrees in different disciplines can apply, subject to fulfilling the prescribed qualification requirement.

XAT Eligibility for Final-Year Students

Students who are in the final year of their bachelor's degree can apply for XAT 2027. However, they must complete their final examinations by June 12, 2027 to satisfy the eligibility requirement.

Final-year candidates should enter the academic information available up to the relevant semester or year while completing the application. The final-year candidates should enter the aggregate marks obtained up to the last semester/ year at the time of filling out the application form.

XAT Eligibility and Work Experience

Prior work experience is not a requirement for appearing in XAT 2027. Candidates can apply if they satisfy the prescribed educational qualification, irrespective of whether they are fresh graduates or have prior work experience. Only full-time work experience gained after completing graduation is considered. Work experience gained before graduation is not counted.

Does Internship or Articleship Count as Work Experience?

No. Only full-time work experience gained after completing graduation is considered. Therefore, internship or articleship experience should not be treated as qualifying full-time post-graduation work experience.

Is Work Experience Before Graduation Considered?

No. Only post-graduation work experience is counted. Therefore, work experience acquired before completing graduation is not considered.

XAT Eligibility for Freshers

Freshers can apply for XAT 2027. Prior work experience is not required to appear for the examination. Candidates who have completed the required bachelor's degree can apply, while eligible final-year students can also apply subject to the June 12, 2027 deadline.

XAT Eligibility for Working Professionals

Working professionals can also apply for XAT 2027 if they meet the prescribed educational qualification. Prior work experience is not mandatory for appearing in the examination.

XAT Eligibility for XLRI Programmes

Meeting the basic XAT eligibility criteria does not automatically make a candidate eligible for admission to every XLRI programme. Candidates must apply separately for the XLRI programmes of their choice. XAT is a common entrance test, while individual programmes and participating institutes have their own selection processes and criteria.
