The NIT Silchar provides scholarships, including merit-based scholarships to students based on academic performance and financial requirements. The following are some detailed scholarship options:
Central Sector Scholarship of Top Class Education for SC Students: For SC candidates with a total family income up to INR 8 LPA. Covers full tuition fees, other fees, a stipend of INR 3,000, a books grant of INR 5,000, and a one-time grant of INR 45,000 for a computer and accessories.
- National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students: For ST candidates with family income up to INR 6 LPA. Covers the full amount of tuition fees, stipend of INR 3,000 per month, books grant of INR 5,000 per annum, and one time grant of INR 45,000 for computer and accessories.
- Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for Students Belonging to Minority Communities: For minority students (Muslim, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist, Jain, Christian) with a family income up to INR 2.50 LPA. Covers course fees of INR 20,000 LPA or actual, whichever is less, rent for hostellers at INR 10,000 per annum, and for day-hostellers at INR 5,000 per annum.

100% Waiver of Tuition Fee of SC/ ST/ PH Students: Fully tuition fee remitted for the SC, ST, and physically handicapped students.
- Remission of Tuition Fee for the General Category and OBC Students: Complete remission of tuition fees is being offered to the student whose annual family income falls below Rs. 1 lakh. Remission of 2/3rd tuition fee of the student, whose family income lies in between Rs. 1 to Rs. 5 Lakh a year.

NIT Silchar has excellent facilities such as eight boys' hostels and three girls' hostels, wide sport amenities, a well-equipped health center, a hybrid library with more than 97,000 resources, a fully computerized SBI branch, cafeteria, auditorium, modern computer labs, and a multi-gym. - Hostels: NIT Silchar provides excellent accommodation for students in the form of eight boys' hostels with single, double, and triple-sharing rooms, three girls' hostels, a 300-bed PG Boys Hostel, and a 100-bed Married Ph.D. Hostel.
- Sports Facilities: The institute has good sports facilities, such as grounds for football, cricket, hockey, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and lawn tennis separately. Besides that, there is a sports complex which caters to outdoor as well as indoor games.
- Health: Adequate Health Centre with qualified and practicing medical staff providing allopathy, homeopathy and dental care to students as well as staff.
- Library: This library is a hybrid resource providing over 97,000 documents in the library database of books, periodicals, CDs, Digital resource etc. It further accommodates special collections dedicated towards North-East India and has services on career counseling.
- Other Facilities: Campus offers an ATM fully computerized State Bank of India branch providing core banking facilities. There is also a canteen facility in the cafeteria for staff and students. There is also an auditorium to hold events and get-togethers, and computer labs are air-conditioned with high-speed internet connectivity. Also, Gymkhana has a multi-gym along with the available equipment.
