B.Tech Power Engineering is an undergraduate program. It involves the study of materials related to electric power, such as how to do transmission, generation, distribution, and utilization of equipment and systems involved in this process. The duration of this program is four years. In these four years, students get to learn about grid technologies, electrical machines, power plant systems, switchgears, protection systems, and power electronics.
A BTech Manufacturing Technology application requires a 10+2 certificate with core subjects in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, as well as an overall grade point average of 60% in these subjects. Admission to certain colleges is determined by the results of national entrance exams, such as JEE Main and JEE Advanced. This program also includes tests at the state and university levels, including BITSAT, VITEEE, SRMJEEE (university level), WBJEE, MHT CET, etc. (state level).
The fee of this course varies significantly based on the student's preferred institution; for instance, tuition at public institutions is lower than that at private universities. IITs charge between INR 1,50,000 and INR 3,00,000 for a program, whereas private colleges charge between INR 3,00,000 and INR 5,00,000. Each state and institution has a different fee.
This course has a wide range of job prospects in different industries, such as Power Generation Companies, Electric Utilities & Grid Operators, Renewable Energy Companies, Oil & Gas Sector, Railways, and Metro etc. Job positions that are available in this field are Power Plant Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer, Transmission & Distribution Engineer, Energy Analyst / Energy Auditor, Project Engineer / Site Engineer, and Maintenance Engineer.
