JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2027
JEE Advanced 2027 eligibility requires Indian candidates to be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in the B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE Main 2027. The category-wise distribution of candidates will be as prescribed by the examination authority.
- Candidates appearing for JEE Advanced 2027 should be been born on or after October 1, 2002, based on the age criterion followed for JEE Advanced 2026. Candidates belonging to the SC, ST and PwD categories are required to receive the applicable five year age relaxation, subject to the final 2027 eligibility notification.
- Candidates can ordinarily appear for JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years. Candidates with a previous JEE Advanced attempt or IIT admission history should check the specific eligibility conditions applicable to their case.
- JEE Advanced 2027 candidates should have appeared for the Class 12 or equivalent examination for the first time in 2026 or 2027 and must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, subject to the final 2027 eligibility rules.
- For admission to the IITs, candidates are required to satisfy either the prescribed Class 12 aggregate percentage requirement or the applicable category-wise top 20 percentile criterion. The prescribed percentage requirement is lower for candidates belonging to the SC, ST and PwD categories, as per the applicable admission rules.
- Candidates who have previously been admitted to an IIT or have a specific previous JEE Advanced admission history should verify the applicable provisions before applying, as such circumstances may affect eligibility.
JEE Advanced 2027 Eligibility for Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals follow a separate registration and eligibility process for JEE Advanced 2027. Under the 2026 rules, foreign nationals were not required to qualify JEE Main to register directly for JEE Advanced. OCI/PIO candidates were governed by separate provisions depending on their status and the applicable rules.
- Foreign candidates must satisfy the prescribed requirements related to nationality, age, Class 12 qualification, number of attempts and previous IIT admission, as applicable to their category.
