MAT Counselling 2026: Registration, Admission Process, Colleges, Cutoff and Fees

MAT Counselling 2026 does not follow a centralised counselling process conducted by AIMA. AIMA conducts the MAT exam and provides candidates' scores to the Management Institutes (MIs) selected during registration. The participating B-Schools then manage their own admission process, including applications, shortlisting, selection rounds and final admission. MAT scores are accepted by 600+ B-Schools across India.

For the September 2026 session, the MAT PBT was conducted on September 13, 2026, while the CBT is scheduled for September 20, 2026. The September MAT score is expected to be available by the last week of September 2026.

MAT Counselling 2026 Dates

There is no common MAT counselling calendar because each participating institute follows its own admission schedule. AIMA has announced the September MAT examination and score timeline, while dates for college applications, shortlisting and selection rounds are decided by individual B-Schools.

Candidates should check the admission notification of each preferred B-School instead of relying on a common MAT counselling date.

How to Register for MAT Counselling 2026

There is no separate AIMA counselling registration form for MAT. After receiving the MAT score, candidates apply to the participating B-Schools they wish to join. Many institutes require a separate application through their own admission portal.

The process generally involves:

1. Download the MAT scorecard from the applicant dashboard after the September result is released.
2. Shortlist B-Schools based on the MAT score, expected cutoff, programme and eligibility requirements.
3. Check the institute's admission notification for the application deadline and selection process.
4. Register on the B-School's admission portal, wherever a separate application is required.
5. Enter MAT and academic details and upload the required documents.
6. Pay the institute's application fee, if applicable.
7. Attend the selection round if shortlisted. This may include GD, PI, WAT or another institute-specific evaluation.
8. Complete admission formalities after receiving the final offer.

Selecting a Management Institute for MAT score reporting does not automatically mean that the candidate has applied for admission to that institute. AIMA advises candidates to check the admission requirements of the respective institute.

MAT Management Institute Choices

During MAT registration, candidates can select 5 Management Institutes for sending their scores. Candidates opting for the PBT+CBT combination can select 7 institutes in total. Additional MI choices can be added for INR 118 per institute, including 18% GST.

AIMA states that MAT scores are accepted by 600+ B-Schools across India. The participating-institute list includes colleges from different regions and is updated by AIMA.

Some B-Schools accepting MAT scores include institutes such as BIMTECH, XIME, ISB&M, IPE Hyderabad, Indus Business Academy and SIESCOMS, subject to their programme-wise acceptance criteria.
