GMAT Results 2025 are released within 3–5 business days of the exam, with unofficial scores available immediately after the test. Candidates can access their GMAT Results by logging into their GMAC account. GMAT Focus Edition scores candidates on a scale of 205 to 805 across three equally weighted sections: Quantitative ReasoningVerbal Reasoning, and Data Insights. Each section is scored on a 60 to 90 scale, with unique percentile distributions. Some upcoming GMAT Exam Dates include 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th June, 2025.

GMAC has introduced a score granularity system in GMAT 2025 especially for high percentiles. For example, in Quantitative Reasoning, a score of 90 places candidates in the 100th percentile, while a score of 85 pushes candidates to the 88th percentile. In Verbal Reasoning, an 85 score reaches the 94th percentile, whereas an 80 score moves to the 57th percentile. In the Data Insights section, a score of 83 places candidates in the 95th percentile, while a slight drop to 80 brings the percentile down to the 84th.

GMAT Result 2025: What Is A Good Score?

good GMAT score is based on the candidate's percentile rankcompared to the top GMAT exam rankers. A total score between 700 and 705 is generally considered good. However, it varies according to the cutoff range set by the business schools. For example, if any candidate is targeting ISB Hyderabad, he/she has to score between 710 and 715. In contrast, if any applicant is targeting Stanford University, he/she has to score at least 738. So, good scores vary, but GMAT candidates are advised to aim to score 700 (90+ percentile) to get admission to leading business schools. What Is Score Granularity In GMAT Focus Edition?

For example, in the 99th to 100th percentile range, there are 10 different scores between 715 and 805, while the 96th to 98th percentile includes three distinct scores (685–705), and the 90th to 95th percentile also has three scores (655–675). Score Granularity in GMAT Result 2025 helps business schools compare candidates who perform better across all test sections. The Score Granularity at high percentile levels are as follows:

  • 99th-100th Percentile Range: 10 distinct scores (715-805)
  • 96th-98th Percentile Range: 3 distinct scores (685-705)
  • 90th-95th Percentile Range: 3 distinct scores (655-675)

GMAT Score Chart 2025: Section-wise Breakdown

Each section of GMAT 2025 contributes equally to the total score. A candidate’s total score is calculated by combining the scaled scores from all three sections, considering question difficulty and overall consistency. Candidates can check below for complete percentile distributions for all three sections.

GMAT Quantitative Reasoning Score Chart

The GMAT Quantitative Reasoning section allows for exact differentiation among test-takers with seven distinct scores between the 85th and 100th percentiles. Even a 1-point increase in the score can improve three percentile ranks for candidates. For example, an absolute score of 86 can lead to a jump of 3 percentile ranks in the quantitative section and a 2-point rise in total percentile. Candidates can refer to the table below to understand the quantitative reasoning section's marks vs. percentile ranks.

GMAT Verbal Reasoning Score Chart

The Verbal Reasoning section of the GMAT Focus Edition assesses a candidate’s comprehension, critical reasoning, and grammar skills. However, its marks vs. percentile calculation differs from the quantitative reasoning section. For instance, a perfect score of 90 places candidates in the 100th percentile, meaning they performed better. However, a score of 85 places in the 94th percentile, and just five points lower, at 80, places candidates in the 57th percentile, which indicates tough competition

GMAT Data Insights Score Chart

In the Data Insight section of GMAT 2025, a score of 90 places candidates in the 100th percentile. Scores of 85 to 88 still fall within the 98th to 99th percentile. A score of 80, meanwhile, places candidates in the 84th percentile, but dropping just five points to 75 brings a candidate down to the 48th percentile. This indicates how competitive the section is and how candidates should be precise in answering the questions in this section.

GMAT Score Cancellation

GMAC allows candidates to cancel their scores if the result is unsatisfactory. However, candidates are advised not to select schools before the exam. If they do not add any schools before the exam, no schools can see their scores and know how many times they have attempted. So, candidates are required to select schools after they get a satisfactory score. So, there is no need to cancel their GMAT Focus Edition Score until it is actively shared with schools. However, applicants must note that once they send their scores to desired MBA programs or business schools, GMAC can not undo it. Here are some GMAT score cancellation tips for students presented below:

  • Candidates need to cancel their scores within 72 hours of the exam.
  • If candidates want to reinstate their cancelled score, they must do it within 4 years and 11 months by logging in to the GMAC account. Students have to pay a reinstatement fee.

Validity Of GMAT Score

GMAT Score 2025 will be valid for five years from the scheduled date. Candidates can send their scores within this timeframe while submitting their applications to the desired business schools. For example, if an applicant has an exam date on 9th June, 2025, it will be valid until 9th June, 2030. Candidates can also check the validity of their GMAT score after logging in through mba.com and then clicking on the “My account” section. They can check their exam history there, including past test attemptstest dates and scores, mentioning expiry dates for each score.

What Are The Next Steps After GMAT Score Release?

Once the GMAT Score is released, first, candidates should download and review the official score report from their GMAC account, carefully checking the total score, section-wise breakdown, percentile rankings, and the five-year validity. Below are some important instructions about the next steps for the GMAT score release.

  • After viewing GMAT Scores 2025, candidates must decidewhether to retake the GMAT Exam.
  • If they aim to retake the exam, they can reapply after a 16-day gap. Or if they are satisfied with their GMAT scores, they must send their scores to up to five schools.
  • After sending the scores, candidates must proceed with the application process by checking the admission requirements of their desired business schools. Many schools may require SOPs, essays, a letter of recommendation, an updated CV and academic records. So, candidates must be prepared with these materials.

Note: Candidates can apply to five business schools for free if they send their scores within 48 hours of release. Unless they need to pay INR 2,900 for each application's report cost.
