Jammu & Kashmir NEET PG Counselling 2026 will be conducted by the Jammu & Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) for admission to postgraduate medical courses in the Union Territory of J&K. The counselling covers the 50% UT quota seats in eligible government medical institutions and seats in participating private institutions, as notified by BOPEE. Candidates from the UT of Ladakh are also considered under the provisions applicable to the J&K/Ladakh counselling process.
As of September 5, 2026, JKBOPEE has not yet released the detailed 2026 notification, registration dates, fee schedule or final seat matrix for NEET PG MD/MS/PGD counselling. The BOPEE notification record currently shows the latest PG medical counselling activity under the 2025 session, including third-round, mop-up and stray-round proceedings conducted during January–February 2026. Candidates should therefore wait for the official 2026 registration notice before relying on dates or seat numbers.
Candidates should track the Jammu & Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) for the 2026 notification, registration link, merit list, seat matrix, choice-filling schedule and allotment results.

Later, the counselling extended into additional online and physical rounds, including mop-up and stray rounds.
How Jammu & Kashmir NEET PG Counselling 2026 Works
The J&K process is different from simply registering for MCC counselling. Eligible candidates have to register with JKBOPEE for consideration against the seats falling under the UT counselling framework.
Jammu & Kashmir NEET PG Counselling process:
BOPEE prepares the UT-level merit list after receiving the NEET PG result and verifying the eligibility and documents submitted by candidates. A candidate who qualifies NEET PG but does not complete the required BOPEE registration and document submission is not considered for the state counselling process. This was explicitly followed in the 2025 registration notification.
Jammu & Kashmir NEET PG Registration 2026
The Jammu & Kashmir NEET PG Registration 2026 will be conducted through the official JKBOPEE website. Candidates will have to enter their NEET PG details, personal information and category details and upload the documents prescribed in the counselling notification.
In 2025, BOPEE specifically required candidates to register online for the 50% UT quota seats and upload supporting documents within the notified window. The Board also instructed candidates to enter their NEET PG roll number, score, rank, date of birth and category information correctly.
Candidates should keep the following information ready:
- NEET PG 2026 application/admit-card details
- NEET PG scorecard and rank
- MBBS qualification details
- Medical Council registration details
- Domicile information
- Category certificate, where applicable
- Internship completion details
- NOC for eligible in-service candidates
Eligibility for Jammu & Kashmir NEET PG Counselling 2026
The final 2026 eligibility conditions will be notified by JKBOPEE. Based on the latest counselling framework, candidates must satisfy the NEET PG qualification requirement as well as the eligibility conditions prescribed for the UT counselling.
| Requirement | Details |
| NEET PG | Must qualify NEET PG as per the applicable cutoff |
| MBBS | Recognised MBBS degree/pass qualification |
| Internship | Required internship must be completed within the prescribed deadline |
| Registration | Valid medical registration with the competent authority |
| Domicile | J&K/Ladakh domicile requirement applies to UT quota counselling as notified |
| Category | Valid certificate required for reservation claims |
| In-Service Candidates | NOC/permission from the competent authority may be required |
For the 2025 cycle, BOPEE prescribed a 50th percentile cutoff for General/EWS candidates and 40th percentile for SC, ST-I, ST-II, OBC, ALC/IB and RBA categories, subject to the applicable NEET PG qualification rules. The actual 2026 qualifying threshold will depend on the NEET PG 2026 result and subsequent official notifications.
Documents Required for J&K NEET PG Counselling
The 2025 BOPEE registration notice required candidates to upload a defined set of documents. The 2026 list may be revised, but candidates can expect the registration process to require documents such as:
- MBBS degree certificate
- Medical Council registration certificate
- Internship completion certificate
- J&K/Ladakh domicile certificate
- NEET PG scorecard
- Valid category certificate
- EWS certificate, if applicable
- Difficult Area Certificate, wherever applicable
- NOC for in-service candidates
- NMC/MCI clearance for candidates with foreign MBBS qualification
- Additional documents required for Ladakh candidates, including the prescribed service undertaking where applicable
For Ladakh candidates, BOPEE's 2025 notification specified that the ST certificate issued by the competent authority could be treated as the domicile certificate, subject to the applicable provisions.
J&K NEET PG Merit List 2026
JKBOPEE prepares the Provisional UT Merit List after registration and verification of eligible candidates. Candidates are required to check the provisional list and follow BOPEE's instructions regarding objections or corrections before the final merit list is issued.
Merit is primarily linked to the candidate's NEET PG performance, with category and other applicable provisions considered under the J&K counselling framework. The Board also publishes revised merit lists when corrections, document verification or later eligibility changes require modification of the earlier list. The 2025 cycle included revised and re-revised merit-list activity even after the initial counselling stages.
J&K NEET PG Seat Matrix 2026
The Jammu & Kashmir NEET PG Seat Matrix 2026 will be released by JKBOPEE before the relevant counselling rounds. The matrix can change between rounds because of newly approved seats, vacant seats, category conversions, withdrawals and other institutional changes.
The 2025 counselling included PG seats in government medical colleges and participating private institutions. BOPEE also released separate matrices for MD/MS/PG Diploma and DNB seats during the later counselling process.
Major Institutions Appearing in the J&K PG Counselling Framework
The 2025 BOPEE counselling notifications referenced institutions including:
| Institution | Location/Type |
| Government Medical College, Jammu | Government |
| Government Medical College, Srinagar | Government |
| Government Medical College, Kathua | Government |
| Government Medical College, Rajouri | Government |
| Government Medical College, Anantnag | Government |
| Government Medical College, Baramulla | Government |
| ASCOMS, Jammu | Private |
The final 2026 participating-institution list and branch-wise seat numbers will be determined through the official seat matrix.
J&K NEET PG Reservation
Reservation in J&K PG admissions follows the applicable UT reservation framework and the provisions notified by the government and implemented by BOPEE.
The 2025 counselling material reflected categories including OM, EWS, SC, ST-I, ST-II, RBA, ALC/IB, OBC and UT of Ladakh, along with applicable horizontal reservation provisions. Government-seat matrices also included provisions for categories such as Children of Defence Personnel, Children of Para-military Forces/UT Police Personnel and candidates with outstanding sports proficiency, wherever applicable.
Because reservation rules and seat distribution can change, candidates should use the 2026 BOPEE notification and seat matrix as the final authority rather than applying the 2025 distribution directly.
J&K NEET PG Choice Filling and Seat Allotment
After publication of the seat matrix, eligible candidates are required to submit their preferences for available courses and institutions through the counselling portal.
BOPEE's counselling instructions cover the technical process for submitting online preferences. Candidates should list choices in their actual order of preference because allotment depends on the candidate's merit, applicable category, available seats and preferences submitted during the round.
After allotment, candidates must complete the admission requirements within the deadline specified by BOPEE. Depending on the round, the counselling process can include online preference filling as well as physical counselling, particularly in later mop-up and stray rounds. The 2025 cycle demonstrates that candidates should not assume all later rounds will follow the same online procedure as Round 1.
J&K NEET PG Counselling Rounds
The 2025 counselling cycle progressed through several stages rather than ending after two online rounds. BOPEE subsequently conducted third-round counselling, mop-up and stray rounds, with some later rounds being conducted physically.
This is important for candidates who remain without a seat after the initial rounds. However, eligibility for fresh registration, preference submission, participation by already allotted candidates and seat retention/upgradation can vary from one round to another. Candidates should therefore read the notification issued specifically for each round.
J&K NEET PG Cutoff 2026
The Jammu & Kashmir NEET PG Cutoff 2026 will depend on the NEET PG rank, category, speciality, college, seat availability and counselling round. There is no single cutoff rank applicable to every MD/MS seat.
For reference, BOPEE's 2025 registration notification established the minimum NEET PG qualifying level at 276/800 for General/EWS candidates and 235/800 for SC/ST-I/ST-II/OBC/ALC/IB/RBA categories. These figures represented eligibility thresholds, not the closing rank for admission to individual MD/MS courses.
For admission planning, candidates should distinguish between the NEET PG qualifying cutoff and the J&K college/course closing rank generated during counselling.
