NIFT Counselling Process 2026
NIFT 2026 Counselling is a multi-step process. All the eligible candidates can follow the steps below to participate in the counselling process:
Step 1: Registration and Choice Filling
- Registration: All shortlisted candidates must register for counselling on the official NIFT website: https://nift.ac.in.
- Registration Fee: Pay a non-refundable registration fee of INR 9,300 online.
- Choice Filling: Fill in your preferred academic programs and select from the 16 NIFT campuses.
- Choice Locking: Choices must be locked on or before the last date. If not locked manually, the last saved choices will be auto-locked.
Step 2: Download Call Letter
- After successful registration and choice filling, a call letter will be sent to your registered email ID and mobile number.
- Download and save the call letter, as it will be required during campus reporting.
Step 3: Upload Documents
- Log in to the NIFT admission portal and upload all required documents as specified in the guidelines.
Step 4: Pay Seat Acceptance Fee
- Candidates allotted a seat must pay a seat acceptance fee of INR 1,83,200 through the admission portal.
- This payment confirms your acceptance of the allotted seat.
Step 5: Document and Fee Verification
- On the day of counselling, visit the NIFT campus you selected during registration.
- All uploaded documents and the fee payment will be physically verified by the admission authorities.
Step 6: Allotment Letter
- Once verification is complete, the final allotment letter will be sent to the candidate via their registered email.

NIFT Counselling 2026: Eligibility Criteria
Only individuals who meet NIFT’s eligibility criteria will be able to sit for its counselling process. The eligibility criteria for NIFT’s 2026 counselling process are as follows:
Undergraduate Programs
- To be eligible for UG courses at NIFT, candidates must pass Class 12 from a recognised education board. Those with diplomas recognised by AICTE, AIU, or UGC, along with a NIFT diploma, are also eligible.
- All candidates must attempt the NIFT entrance examination 2026. Alternatively, a valid NLEA examination test score will also be considered for UG program admission.
Postgraduate Programs
- Candidates with a bachelor's degree in any discipline or an NIFT degree are eligible for the NIFT admissions process.
- Qualified candidates must also attempt the NIFTEE or must have a valid GMAT score.
NIFT Counselling 2026: Seat Allotment Criteria
Seat allotment in the NIFT 2026 counselling process is conducted across 16 campuses, offering a total of 5,076 seats. Seats are allotted to the B.Des., B.F.Tech., M.Des., M.F.Tech. and MFM degrees on the following criteria:
- Merit rank of the candidate in NIFT 2026.
- The seat intake for the candidate’s chosen program.
- The campus chosen by the candidate.
- Category of the student: open, SC, ST, PwD, OBC.
NIFT Counselling 2026: Seat Withdrawal and Fee Refund
Candidates who will complete their NIFT 2026 counselling process can withdraw their admission on the NIFT admissions portal. However, they will not be considered for admission after withdrawal. Refunds will be issued under set guidelines:
- The full seat acceptance fee will be refunded if admission has not been taken after counselling.
- The registration fee of INR 9,300 will not be refunded if the withdrawal request is made after confirmation of seat allotment on the portal or before the last counselling round starts.
- Only the security deposit will be refunded if the withdrawal request is made after the last counselling round starts.

NIFT Counselling 2026: Document List
All candidates who are shortlisted for the NIFT 2026 counselling process must carry original and photocopies of documents for verification. After the admission process is completed, the original copies are returned to the candidates. All documents must be in the format and size specified. Here are the documents needed for the counselling process:
- Marksheets and school leaving certificates of class 10th, 12th, and an undergraduate degree
- NIFT 2026 Admit Card
- Reserved category certificate (if needed)
- Parents’ income proof: salary certificate and income tax returns
- Medical fitness certificate
- Completed anti-ragging and provisional admission annexures

What is the NIFT 2026 counselling process?
NIFT 2026 counselling starts with candidates qualifying for the written examination. Qualified candidates register for counselling, during which seats are allotted based on the campus and course chosen.
What is the NIFT 2026 counselling fee?
There is a NIFT 2026 counselling fee of INR 9,300. The fee is to be paid during registration for the counselling process, to be paid online.
How many rounds are there in NIFT 2026 counselling?
