PU CET 2025 Marking Scheme FAQs

What is the duration of PU CET UG examination?

The PU CET UG exam is divided into separate subject papers, and each paper is 70 minutes long. So, whether it's Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics, every subject gets the same time limit. Candidates writing more than one paper will have breaks in between, as the exams are scheduled in slots. Time is fixed, and no extra minutes are given once the paper ends.

What is the frequency of PU CET UG exam?

PU CET UG is conducted only once a year by Panjab University. Usually, the application process begins around June, followed by the exam shortly after. There is no second attempt or session within the same year, so candidates have just one shot annually. This makes timely preparation and staying updated with the schedule very important.

Will there be a sectional time limit in PU CET UG?

No, there is no sectional time limit within a subject paper because each subject is given as a separate test. For example, Physics has its own 70-minute slot, and so does Chemistry or Mathematics. This means candidates attempt only one paper at a time and get the full 70 minutes for each, without needing to divide that time between different sections.

What is the PU CET UG Seat Intake for the courses available?

Seat intake varies depending on the course and the department under Panjab University. For example, B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology, and Computer Science each has its own number of available seats, and the exact count is published in the university’s prospectus. Seats are also divided across categories like General, SC, ST, OBC, and EWS.

What are the participating colleges of PU CET (UG) examination?

PU CET UG is mainly conducted for admission into Panjab University’s campus and its affiliated institutes in Chandigarh. The key colleges include the University Institute of Sciences (U.I.S.), as well as other departments offering B.Sc. (Hons.) programs. The specific departments under the university manage admissions based on CET scores, depending on the subject chosen.
