RRB JE 2026: CBT 1 Exam Date (27–28 October), City Intimation Slip Out, Admit Card, Vacancy

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) will hold the RRB JE CBT 1 for CEN 04/2026 on 27 and 28 October 2026, as per the revised schedule notice of 2 October 2026; the exam was earlier scheduled for 27, 28 and 30 October. The exam city intimation slip was released on 17 October 2026 for candidates appearing on 27 October and on 18 October 2026 for those appearing on 28 October. The e-call letter (admit card) is expected from 23 October for the 27 October exam and from 24 October for the 28 October exam.

CEN 04/2026 covers 4,029 vacancies (revised on 18 August 2026) for Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) posts. The application window closed on 13 September 2026. For the previous cycle, CEN 05/2025, Document Verification was held from 5 to 7 October 2026 for candidates shortlisted after CBT 2.

RRB JE City Intimation Slip 2026

The city intimation slip tells candidates their exam city, exam date and shift. It is not an admit card and cannot be used to enter the exam centre.

How to Download the RRB JE City Intimation Slip

1. Open the website of the RRB you applied to.
2. Click the CEN 04/2026 exam city intimation link.
3. Log in with your registration number and date of birth.
4. View and download the slip showing your exam city, date and shift.

SC and ST candidates who are eligible for free rail travel can also download their travel authority along with the city slip.

RRB JE Admit Card 2026

The e-call letter is released four days before each candidate’s exam date on the same RRB website, using the same login. It shows the roll number, exam centre address, reporting time, shift and exam-day instructions.

Documents to carry on exam day:

• A printed copy of the e-call letter
• An original photo ID, such as Aadhaar, PAN, voter ID, passport or driving licence
• Recent passport-size colour photographs, the same as uploaded in the application

Candidates should keep their Aadhaar details updated, as RRBs use Aadhaar-based biometric authentication at exam centres.

RRB JE Exam Pattern 2026

Both stages are objective, computer-based tests with negative marking of one-third of a mark for each wrong answer.

CBT 1 Exam Pattern

Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible scribe candidates).

CBT 2 Exam Pattern

Duration: 120 minutes (160 minutes for eligible scribe candidates).

RRB JE Minimum Qualifying Marks

These percentages may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates if enough candidates are not available. Qualifying marks only decide eligibility; shortlisting for CBT 2 is based on merit and the vacancies in each RRB. More details are on the RRB JE exam pattern page.

RRB JE Vacancy 2026 (CEN 04/2026)

The vacancies were revised on 18 August 2026 from 3,993 to 4,029. Kolkata has the most posts (457), followed by Mumbai (411) and Chennai (377).

RRB JE Eligibility 2026

The age limit is 18 to 33 years as on 1 January 2027, with relaxation for reserved categories as per rules. The qualification must have been held by the last date of application, 13 September 2026; candidates awaiting results were not eligible. Full details are on the RRB JE eligibility criteria page.

RRB JE Answer Key and Result 2026

After CBT 1, RRB will publish the provisional answer key with the question paper and the candidate’s responses, and allow objections for a fee per question within a fixed window. In the previous cycle, the CBT 1 answer key came 8 days after the last exam date (5 March 2026) and the result 77 days after (13 May 2026). The result is published RRB-wise as a list of roll numbers shortlisted for CBT 2, with scorecards in the candidate login.
